Good diplomacy requires intelligence, a curious and open mind, a willingness to listen, and the strength to back up your argument....

As I understand, we are not fighting with Iraq, but in Iraq against the insurgent terrorists.
It is because we are being bombarded by Tokyo Hillary, Tokyo Harry,
Tokyo Teddy, Tokyo Nancy, Tokyo Murtha, etc., and they have picked up the same message and are broadcasting it on Tokyo CNN, Tokyo ABC, Tokyo CBS, Tokyo NBC, etc., to our troops.
The only difference is that they claim to support our troops before they
demoralize them. Come to think of it, Tokyo Rose told the troops she was on
their side, too.
You get 'em FlGirl...RedRancid,
Amidst all of the accusations of lies of war, the most costly has been trusting the Shiites as much as we did. They have always been the Moon Party, and they don?t know how to behave, as we had planned for them to behave as the Sun Party. But that?s a side note.
To your post, I completely agree. It?s the main reason I believe it is imperative that we show the resolve to give the surge a fighting chance. As for goals, one was moderate Shiites in Iraq pressuring mullah upheaval in Iran. That goes back to the last paragraph. We were obviously wrong there, and it is one more reason Tenet?s book is completely disingenuous, and why his medal awarded by GWB is completely unmerited.
30Gay,
This statement does not jive with documented history - ?Well I'm not going with the idea that we were facing a Saddam armed (it was ?arming? ? me) with WMD, coddling Jihadists, and flushed with cash. He was none of the above.?
And I never implied, inferred or hinted that there would be a mushroom cloud over Manhattan if we didn?t invade Iraq.
Goodwitch58,
That?s swell as long as you?ve never been punched in the mouth or had to pin your ears back and show teeth.
6th gen,
DO you REALLY believe that amidst all the accusations of lies of war one of the most costly was trusting the ****es?????? ANYONE with a deep understanding of the region, the different ethnicities, beliefs, etc.. could have, would have and did predict the inevitable chaos that ensued.
I also want to know if you genuinely believed a surge will work? A surge of 100,000 possibly but the small numbers that did go over will have very little effect and it is laughable to "wait till September" till Petreaus gives his report- I think Bush at this point has realized that the war is unwinnable and in his predictably cowardly and with disgusting non-chalance he is doing what he can to wait out till 2008 to "hand this war over" and this callous disregard to the human lives that will be lost and the continued toll this will have on the US and others is despicable.
You may not have implied that there would be a mushroom cloud over NY if we did not invade but you seem to have bought the rubbish you were fed about "terrorists getting us over here so we have to get them over there" or "they hate for our freedoms" BS, hook line and sinker (I think that is the correct expression although it may not be!). And again, you may not be convinced but most of the world (yes, you will probably hate this but this is not just about the US) KNOWS that Iraq had nothing to do with 911 and if AL-Quaeda is there now you can thank this current administration for this.
