Right here!
Are they having riots? I know Scandinavia just dropped $2.5B to Iceland and they are projecting to be in recovery by 2010.......now is the time to go. Typically a very expensive country, quite affordable now.

;-) Y'all have a great Monday!!

So are we. Enjoy yours as well.

Haven't been, but I got some brochures for package tours from Iceland Air a couple years back, and it looked like a gorgeous place.

Why do we need the Amero - we already have a currency fitting that description called the dollar!

And the Russian guy's 6 regions are a total joke - he just colored in a map w/o regard for culture, geography, or history.

"Wealthier states will withhold $ from the federal government" Puhlease! Like they will forego federal $, S.S. Medicare etc.

Iceland is supposed to be gorgeous, but I always recommend not visiting anywhere rioting is currently going on.

Has anyone here seen the movie, "The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peakl Oil"? Or read James Howard Kuunstler's The Long Emergency?

I haven't read his book but I keep tabs on his blog. His roadmap is based on solutions to far out extremes which I really don't think we'll reach. I enjoy his writing though, it's entertaining. This is the same guy who predicted the end of the world due to Y2K. He tends to exagerate a bit. But that's what makes his view so interesting.

30A--He does write in an entertaining style, and is a great speaker too. I hope you're right -- that his predictions are more extreme than we will reach. I had just finished reading The Long Emergency when Katrina hit, and it looked like we were going right down the path he foretold.... and a lot of what's going on nationally and globally right now meshes with his vision. I am learning to grow food in sand, LOL.

I know, I know - I'm becoming known as the conspiracy guy here, but thought those who were curious might find this link interesting. I guess it's kind of an adaptation of The Long Emergency. I haven't read the book, but I'll be ordering it today (thanks for the reference)....

The Long Emergency : Rolling Stone

Gotta wonder - if we bankrupt our system, will it matter how expensive oil is? Who could afford it anyway?

(The link is kind of dated, by the way)
