Baby Mine from Dumbo was on the TV being watched by our 2 year old daughter when we came home from the hospital without our son.

and Going Home we played at my Dad's memorial service.

and lately Brad Paisley's new song with Andy Griffith, "Waitin' on a Woman" my Dad would have loved this song, because for 60 years this so what he did.

Sittin' on a bench at West Town Mall
He sat down in his overalls and asked me
''You waitin' on a woman?''
I nodded yeah and said, ''How 'bout you?''
He said, ''Son since nineteen fifty-two I've been
Waitin' on a woman.''

When I picked her up for our first date
I told her I'd be there at eight
And she came down the stairs at eight-thirty
She said, ''I'm sorry that I took so long
Didn't like a thing that I tried on.''
But let me tell you son she sure looked pretty
Yeah, she'll take her time but I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman.

He said, ''The wedding took a year to plan
You talk about an anxious man, I was nervous
Waitin' on a woman.''
And then he nudged my arm like old men do
And said, ''I'll say this about the honeymoon, it was worth it
Waitin' on a woman.''

And I don't guess we've been anywhere
She hasn't made us late I swear
Sometimes she does it just 'cause she can do it
Boy it's just a fact of life
It'll be the same with your young wife
Might as well go on and get used to it
She'll take her time 'cause you don't mind
Waitin' on a woman.

I've read somewhere statistics show
The man's always the first to go
And that makes sense 'cause I know she won't be ready
So when it finally comes my time
And I get to the other side
I'll find myself a bench, if they've got any
I hope she takes her time, 'cause I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman.

Honey, take your time, cause I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman...
And that video is the best! With Andy Griffith.

I just thought of another one that ALWAYS makes me cry when I hear it.

"He Stopped Loving Her Today" - George Jones, Oh my, it tears me up!

He said "I'll love you till I die", she told him "You'll forget in time"
As the years went slowly by, she still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall, went half-crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all, hoping she'd come back again

Kept some letters by his bed dated ninteen sixty-two
He had underlined in red every single "I love you"

I went to see him just today, oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away, first time I'd seen him smile in years

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

You know, she came to him one last time.
Aww, 'n' we all wondered if she would
And it kept runnin' through my mind-"this time he's over her for good."

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today.

where have you been - kathy mattea

the words to these songs just tear me up something awful

I love that song...

Leiber & Stoller's "Neighborhood" when Vonda Shepard sang it on "Ally McBeal" when Billy died. I had to teach that song to 3 different groups of kids (for "Smokey Joe's Cafe") and I always showed them that video. Everyone always cried like babies. YouTube took it off...oh, well...here's another version

I can't even make it to the "play" button before I start blubbering & I don't really like "new" country. This one gets me every time. I couldn't even explain it to my wife when I first heard it. "The Little Girl"
