Geo, here is another "generalization" for you. IMO, this whole thread morphed into one that was useful to one that was totally without merit. You cannot change someone's opinion on religion and should not try to do so. Nor should anyone attempt to change one's core beliefs regarding religion. Here is some more black and white for you. There is a higher being. I know because I have been subjected to his miracles at least twice in my life. I am not a religious person, do not attend church but I believe most passionately. Also, I am not stupid enough to argue, discuss or debate one's innermost beliefs with anyone. Merriest of Christmases and a Happy New Year to all.

I presume your "generalization" comment was referring to me calling you out on a different thread weeks ago for making sweeping generalizations.



If the thread is not useful or interesting and you aren't stupid enough (like me- I gather that's what you've implied) to discuss the subject then why chime in?

This thread has a lot of merit if for no other reason than we've all been given an opportunity to understand the thought process of those who disagree with us. even though I find some of the generalizations, assumptions, and projections rude, shocking, offensive, childlike, and immature, I have a much better understanding of the very different world in which others spend their time. [Edit] Maybe they have a better idea of my different world as well. I did not see one instance of anybody trying to change another's mind by the way. I did see more than one instance of people losing their cool because they have taken it upon themselves to declare this topic innapropriate because it doesn't mesh with their long-held beliefs.

Great posts, all, and Geo, I was referring to myself with the "stupid" comment...no one else. Why do so many want to read things into post that are not there? Once again, the Merriest of Christmases to all and having expressed ONLY my opinion on the religious subject, I shall withdraw. One last comment. I do not believe you must be religious to teach good morals and principles to your kids. That can be done by any good parent just using common sense.

it's humor about other folks and has nothing to do with self love...you are preaching guilt with your statement. I don't do fellowship with narcissists. I find some of the most repulsive and self serving folks attend church. church is not the answer, it's a mental crutch to get hold of individualism and your pocketbook. if you find happiness in a crowd, good for you.
