Sitting at home with all the lights out with a nice fire going, while staring at the Christmas tree and the other lighted Christmas decorations outside. Then there was that one time it snowed in Atlanta (6" here) a few days before Christmas. It was so magical for a southerner like me to see Christmas decorations with "so much" snow on the ground.

Enjoying everyone's memories.

When I was little my big brother and I would stay up and wait for Santa. Mom would always tell us Santa wouldn't come unless we were asleep. We'd peer out the window looking for Rudoph's red nose. We swore we saw him coming. We'd finally fall asleep then wake up early and go into little sister's room to wake her up so she could go wake up mom and dad.

Now one with my kids when they were about 4 and 7 years old. The preschool my kids attended always sent home reindeer food to sprinkle on the lawn on Christmas. ( oatmeal and glitter)
One particular year we had a beautiful blanket of fresh snow on the ground when we arrived home from Grandma's house. Dylan ran in to get the reindeer food and sprinkled it on the front lawn and Samantha got the cookies and milk ready for Santa. We tucked the kids in bed and waited for them to fall asleep. Mr. OL went out and made hoof prints in the snow and then made Santa tracks out of the fireplace with chalk on the carpeting.
You should have seen their little amazed faces. I wish I had pictures. I think this was the year Sam was starting to doubt and this cemented her belief in Santa for a couple of years after! :D

DD - Wonderful Christmas story.....you have such an exciting life!

BSmart - Sitting in the dark and looking at the lights on my tree is one of my favorite things to do. Just tonight I was looking at the refection in a pciture on the wall and the tv screen....3-way lights.

My best Christmas memory...My oldest daughter was born on Dec. 22. In the nursery, each child was put in red stocking that we got to take home. She came home on Christmas morning in that stocking. A real gift! She still uses that stocking each year for Christmas on the mantle.

Wow! these are great, I had to scrape some cobwebs out of the ole brain but here are a few.

*The house I grew up in was an early 1900 home that my parents renovated. The ceiling was sprayed with popcorn? but it had glitter? in it. During the holidays when dad would build a fire my sister and I would lay on the floor with all the lights off and look at the sparkly ceiling.

*When we went to my moms family in South Mississippi we would all get together on Christmas Eve. My papaw would read the real Christmas story from the bible and remind us children of what was the REAL meaning of Christmas. Now I carry on the tradition

*I heard on the radio about Christmas traditions when little IBD was smaller than she is now. I heard it and ran with it. Every year Mr. IBD goes and buys little ibd a new pair of pajamas. She opens and wears them christmas eve and for christmas morning. I hope this is something that the 2 of them will enjoy for years to come.

* Christmas 1986, my father took us to Disney World for Christmas. It was my dads last. I think that is why to this day I feel a need to be in Disney for the holidays.

I am so glad to be a part of this wonderful family for Christmas 2006.....thanks Kurt:love:
