You must have really liked Mr. dd . . . I would have thought, this relationship just wasn't meant to be. Good thing you got all the bad stuff out of the way in the beginning.

Oh I did! I thought he was hot...so something like a little car theft wasn't about to deter me! And believe me, we've had our share of crap happen, but I guess so far, it's all been ok.

:D You mean I coulda been rich all this time?!!:rotfl:
I didn't even put in the part about his dad going to pick up the car on New Year's and had to pull over cause some part was about to fall off, and went into a convenience store(in a less desirable part of KC) to use the phone and about got mugged.

Good Grief DD. What a story!!!!! I am glad everything turned out ok!!!!

Wonderful memories everyone. I'm feeling so "Christmas-y". When I was a child my favorite Christmas was the year I got the new play kitchen and tea set. I made my Daddy tea and dinner (water, nuts, cookies and tangerines). He played with me all afternoon while I "cooked and cleaned". We listened to Brenda Lee sing Christmas carols and danced after "dinner".

When my children were little we always gave them one present on Christmas Eve. Which they still do today. They always got new Christmas PJ's. I love those memories of them so excited and snuggled into bed.

Today my favorite thing is when my little nieces come over before Chirstmas for "cookie day". My daughter and I help them make homemade sugar cookies just like I did with my own kids. They love rolling the dough and cutting their favorite shapes out. We play the Brenda Lee CD for Daddy while we make a mess in the kitchen.

We used to go to my grandparents in Colorado for X-mas, so many of my best holiday memories are from there. There was no TV and only a crackly radio station or two, so you spent the holidays playing in the snow, in group board & card games in front of the fire, or doing puzzles.

Rather than sending my 70 something Grandfather into the woods alone, Grandma would order a tree that came in a 14" x 14" x 8'-0" box so part of the holiday tradition was the tree "unfolding" as it slowly regained its natural shape. Now we either cut a tree from the national forest or Mom and I go on "stealth missions" and bring home a tree whose origins are best left unstated ;-).

One year I was sick so I had to stay home with Grandma instead of going skiing. We ended up at the florist's shop where I found a reindeer (that was as tall as my feverish 6 or 7 year old self) made out of grapevines. It was placed in the snow by the driveway to "greet" the returning skiers, then moved around the house to windows, decks, etc. Later, I wrapped it in white xmas lights, and it is still part of Xmas 20+ years later, despite the dog trying to punish me for something by chewing the lights a couple years ago.
