The Canuck and I are planning a trip to the Keys in October. We will stay in Key West for three nights and then elsewhere for the rest of the stay...any suggestions..has to be funn, water sports during the day which is a given and play at night, but not necessarily wild bars, prefer the laid back atmosphere. It has been 9 years since we were there, right after Hurricane George/Jorge Looking at Marathon or Key Largo....

Can I come too! We love Key West. DKA is going with us for New Years Eve to see the transvestite drop in the shoe at midnight, want to come too?!

I will post a long list of "things to do" later! Marathon Key is lot's of funn too! FFF and I had THE best prime rib we have ever had there.

try Louie's back yard, local bar behind a very classy restaurant in an old house on the east side of the island. locals come for happy hour on the water and bring their hounds. very casual.

great trip idea franny - and I am interested in details from sowallers about key west so that when we head down that way, we'll know what we want to do!

Franny, that will be the best trip! A few years back we flew into Naples to see my folks, drove to Miami for a night or two and then carried on driving to the Keys. It is one heck of a scenic trip. Take your time getting there! I can't give you any tips for Key West because we had the kids with us so it was an entirely different kind of visit than you and your handsome husband will make. We had to eat at kid-friendly restaurants. We didn't even get close to that naked bar that jdarg loves.

"Garden of Eden!" FFF loves that place! He 'bout breaks his neck each time we pass! I never have let him up there, and I am afraid I would just laugh. I have the funniest picture of him in front of the sign...it is actually on the 3rd floor of the building that "Bull & Whistle" is in, Bull & Whistle is a funn bar too!
