I can't tell if this post is offensive or not....

no matter, :welcome: rose anna!

I think that's just what Don Imus said, but in terms that would apply to white people. That's how I took it.

frizzy - nappy (although it lacks the historical baggage, greasy might have been better)

redneck - thug

wh*re - ho

As for the f-word, well...I didn't mean to sound like I thought it was fine to use it on morning TV. I don't have kids, so I know my perspective is a little different, but it seems to me that there is so much on GMA that kids don't need to be exposed to that F-word is kind of lost in the mix. Yesterday, they were talking about a woman being raped, murdered by the married man who raped her and impregnated her, and burned in a fire pit, and the police described the fetus outstretched hand reaching out from her burned and decomposing stomach. Um, again I'm childless, but I think if I were a child that kind of crap would be way more damaging than the f-word. Plus, they'll be fined.

I  Diane Keaton. She is one of my favorite actresses. Imus' comment was totally different because he was being both racist and chauvanistic all in one statement, calling college athletes, nappy-headed ho's. BIG f627in' difference to me. ;-) So ya'lls' kids never heard ya'll say the f bomb? Mine heard me say that several times I'm sure(they're grown ftlog), but never the GD bomb, that was a way bigger :nono1: in our house than the f bomb, not that the f bomb is used that frequently in the first place. It's reserved for really special occasions. It is different around toddlers and preschoolers though. we sure didn't say it around them because they are like little magnets. The network should've bleeped it, sounds like.

I  that scream she did in First wive's Club where she's on the high-rise window cleaning scaffold thingy with Goldie Hahn and Bette Middler, and it starts falling down real fast.

ABC and your local station has been warned about allowing the f-word on the public airwaves. The network could have easily muted the obscenity. But it chose not to. The network stations purposely chose to violate Federal and FCC law by airing the program.
IBD, I'm curious about this portion of your post. Is this copied from somewhere? I find the language of this to be kind of misleading and alarmist--"chose"? I'm assuming it is true that this aired with no delay on the Eastern broadcast, then was edited later. That seems pretty simple and straightforward to me and not a case of ABC trying to trumpet the f-word across the airwaves.

Not that the word in question has never crossed my lips, but I am glad that my fifteen-year-old didn't see that. That is my sweet-child-turned-teenager's favorite word. He has actually tried to explain to me that perhaps it is a very bad word in my old way of thinking, but that it is a frequently used and very acceptable word in today's society. He could have used that clip to back up his argument.:sosad:

It's surprising that the east coast feed didn't have it blocked. Perhaps they don't expect it on morning TV.

way to go diane! you are my hero!!!

ya'll need to go find something important to worry about, other than the F Bomb being uttered by a wonderful woman. how the eff did I miss this?

btw, if my little one had seen it he would have never noticed unless I reacted in a way that let him know something was horribly wrong. and I would not have done that. he does live in this world you know. its up to me to tell him, when he does notice, what the deal is about such language that adults sometimes use.
I was simply posting something that I read about. Trying to create conversation. I never said that she was not a wonderful woman. I like her. HERO? no.
