Not that the word in question has never crossed my lips, but I am glad that my fifteen-year-old didn't see that. That is my sweet-child-turned-teenager's favorite word. He has actually tried to explain to me that perhaps it is a very bad word in my old way of thinking, but that it is a frequently used and very acceptable word in today's society. He could have used that clip to back up his argument.:sosad:

It's surprising that the east coast feed didn't have it blocked. Perhaps they don't expect it on morning TV.
My 17yo has told us the exact same thing recently - that all the kids say it, even some of the Bible thumpers. He doesn't use it in our home but probably does when he's out.

To our liking/approval or not, many cuss words are becoming more "acceptable". No thanks to tv. I personally hate it that biatch has become an endearing term for girlfriend. WTHeck. But it's still up to us to let them know that's it's not acceptable.

I was shocked to see a text from my own daughter that said...Holy Fudge! ( and that's being kind) I don't think she would say it in person to someone so why is she texting it. But that's a whole other story.

okay, who does not say the eff word? raise your hand.

language is not a concern to me in a real "interview" like the one on the GMA this morning - it was hilarious! we (and chldren) see much worse in movies and TV shows. I could start a whole thread about the degradation of subject matter in today's tv sitcoms and shows - IMO this is far worse than an occasional "bad" word. but an interview with Diane Keaton and she slips up and says the F word? please. where is america's effing humor?

tv content, for me, is a major concern to consider, especially the news. the news contains the most violent content, along with sensationalized stories of every kind. that is what I consider worthy of concern when my child, or myself for the matter, is in the room.

[This is the 2nd time I have deleted this video from this thread. Please do not post again. SoWal.com does not allow obscenity. If you want obscenity, go watch TV - kurt]

why do people care about this, especially when they didn't actually SEE it? I can understand if someone SAW it happen and was truly offended. instead, some people are offended by what they did NOT see.

you can SEE it (above) if you choose. or not.

Yes this was copied from some website. My words are in blue. I will try to find the source. I figured the youtube alone said enough. If they could have deleted it and didnt then they CHOSE not to dont ya think. :dunno:I have an extra scapel here at my house if you need to dissect it anymore...
This isn't complicated enough to dissect; seems pretty straightforward from the news reports I've read. Someone used a bad word during a live interview. For some reason--maybe a delay isn't usually used in morning TV, or maybe somebody fell asleep on the job, don't know--it didn't get bleeped. In subsequent broadcasts, the bad word was omitted. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, and you're saying ABC should have deleted the YouTube clip? :dunno:

The rule on SoWal.com is to censor a small handful of curse words. This also includes things like writing the word in question but changing one letter.

Thanks!

What about cursing in a foreign language?

Is there a way to get the SoWal list of the handful of censored words? Via PM? Or shall I just assume it is Geoge Carlin's top 5 words.? Just curious.:D
