I believe that many people are against Sarah Palin as POTUS is because it is a job that should be reserved for the best and the brightest. Sarah Palin as POTUS is like William Hung as the next American Idol. FOX News is basically Vote for the Worst at this point.

I don't think her having something written on her hand is any more an issue than the President using a teleprompter. They are both non issues in my opinion.

Surely with millions out of jobs and many more without insurance there are more important issues to be concerned about by either party.

I write stuff on my hand sometimes - when I really need to remember some minor item, am out of post-its, and have 83 things going on - on the outside (over my manual labor scars) as a short-term reminder and it usually gets washed off because I actually wash my hands after using the restroom and before cooking or eating.

And I can't do it around Mama Scooterbug because she finds it tacky and tells me "you're not a billboard".

It's dumb.

I sure as hell wouldn't do it in any public or formal setting. There are basic and proven methods to remembering lists of items for a speech.

And I sure as sheet wouldn't be doing it when I am a televised figure being paid $100K to give a speech and mock someone for using a 21st century device to help me just in case I lose my place in a prepared speech.

I was once one hell of a public speaker. I won the debate, mock trial, and forensics (prepared & extemporaneous) medals to prove it. My coaches would have either biatch slapped me or left me at the out-of-town venue if I was DUMB enough to write such stupid and illogical cues on my hand.

So Palin is either a bigger moron than I thought (did not think that possible) or has some people pulling her marionette strings who decided that would be the distraction du jour.

Definitely agree that this is a stupid thing for us to be discussing. But I think it is an even stupider thing for us to be discussing this when there are such bigger issues..................and when we continue to let supremely unqualified people and non-news crap distract us from the actual issue.

I am not a fan of Mrs. Palin and certainly do not feel she would make a good President, however I don't find her comment about the President to be mocking but more in the light of they were there to discuss more important issues than the President using a teleprompter and the king or queen of a tea party.

Which to me is a reference to what the news media likes to focus on instead of more serious issues.

This is about the people and it's bigger than any king or queen of a tea party and it's a lot bigger than any charismatic guy with a teleprompter," said Palin.

According to several news sources the notes on her hand were not used for her $100,000 speech, which she noted would be donated to the cause, but for the question and answer section. She had written notes for the speech.

I just feel if you are going to critize her at least know what happened.

Andy, I am just as certain you are wrong as you are that I am wrong. :D

The vast majority of the citizens in the US are thoroughly unqualified to be POTUS. And while Sowallers might be some of the sharper knives in the drawer, the fact is most of us are not qualified to be POTUS (let alone president of a homeowners association). Do I believe there are a few who would do well? Yes- a very few.

I don't have an impression that the POTUS is "all powerful, omnipotent and above all citizens". But I also have no delusions that just anybody who is aggressive and has money and backing can or should do it.

Andy, wonder no more. I make absolutely no apology for thinking that many people (including some on this board) are well below my level of expertise and intelligence. And without hesitation- I can assure you that many people (including some on this board) are well above my level of expertise and intelligence.

I'm disappointed you decided to get personal here. We were talking about Sarah Palin and whether or not she is a dumbbell.

I don't think that would be the case. Just like I don't vote along party lines I also don't base my stance on issues consistent with what is traditional to one party. For some issues, you'd love me. For others, not so much. I'd imagine the net effect would probably be that I am somewhere in the middle.

You're disappointed someone got personal here?

Minnie, it should be obvious to you that most on this board could care less what really happened. The obvious hate... and many will now deny it by saying she isn't smart enough or some othe such nonsense... is astounding. It isn't what she has done in Alaska it is what she might do in our federal government which is in such sad shape it isn't worth talking about, only worth correcting.
Geo, if you think I was too personal, I apologize but I was only expressing a perspective that I believe a lot of normally intelligent and educated citizens feel. Presidents, if the past two are any indication, do not have to be the brightest and best in the land. That is why every one of them have dozens of advisors. One man cannot do it by himself no matter how intelligent and educated he is. There are many schools in this country that do just as good a job of preparing their students for life as the Ivy League schools do. The University of Idaho and the University of Central Oklahoma are two I can think of off hand. Frankly, from what I have seen of those in higher authority because of their Harvard, Yale, Princeton or other Ivy League education, the less I am impressed. I will reiterate the last two, both Harvard graduates, show me little in the area of how to govern as the leader of the executive branch, and subsequently our country. To me, in many cases, it appears that the Liberal elite believe that all other citizens are incapable of making their own decisions and they will be much better off if we do it for them out of the goodness of our hearts and our superior intellectual ability. But then that is but one old man's opinion who has been around long enough to see how both halves live.

Refer to the original post which makes reference to Palin looking at the notes during the Q and A...
