Y'all be careful if you go reaching into GRS's cooler, for a beer. -- You never know what you might find.

Maybe you should keep your art form somewhere other than a snake's natural habitat.

Next live one could be relocated to your yard??? We're not getting rid of children or pets. Non-poisonous snakes are welcome to live in our yard, and many do.

Want the alligator, too?:D

As long as they're not dead, I don't mind. I crossed paths with a 5-foot cottonmouth on my (his) property recently. We decided to leave each other alone. I have several alligators and welcome more. I'm sure they're aware that if I need to, I will eat them. I'm also pretty sure they do everything they can to help keep my belly full.

It's nice that you want to let them have their space. But, keep in mind that cottonmouths are very territorial and aggressive. If you know you are sharing a home with one or more, be very aware that you should not venture into the snake's territory. Snakes do not consider any of the property yours, and cottonmouths will aggressively strike and try to remove you from their homes. I have worked with and around them for many years, and I leave the ones in the swamps and wetlands alone when I venture into their homes, but we do kill the ones that try to move in to our home/yard. I am very tolerant of snakes and wildlife, but aggressive poisonous snakes are dangerous, and a bite can kill a small child or pet very quicklly... a risk I'm not willing to take with my children.

The alligator can stay around as long as he continues to stay in his own yard and remains afraid of people, but we will have him moved if he starts hanging out in our yard looking to be fed.

Good luck with your resident cottonmouth. Hope no one gets bitten! With any luck, he was just passing through your yard, and not considering moving in. If you have a pond, wetland, or other permanent water body on your property, be careful around it.

We found a snake in the storage room in the garage where our Weimaraner's bed was. No way were we dealing with it. We called 911. A policeman who was also a snake handler came to the house, recognized it as a non-poisonous snake, and just picked it up as hubby and I were going :yikes:. He put it into the police car, drove down to the street, and let it out out of the car.

Hey, Kurt, did you ever play golf at the UF golf course? Hubby has been interrupted many times by gators flopping into nearby ponds just as he was about to putt.

LIZARDS AND SPIDERS AND SNAKES, OH MY!
