We americans love our guns.
We build them by the millions and buy them by the millions. Leagally or Illegally.
Notice that our car manufacturers are going out of business, but the gun business is not complaining.
Guns are important to us as Americans. Without our guns, we might as well be British.

Yes it is the person behind the trigger not the gun that kills, But without a gun the person is likely to not kill.

Guns have not served our people well. Lots of Accidents, lots of stolen guns, guns kill people. There is only one reason for a handgun and that is to kill. If you deceide to use it correctly, the only possible outcome is death.

If I'm camping in a national park, I am not going to feel safe because there are more people there with guns, to the contrary I and everyone else is not safer. Guns are used to kill. They service no other purpose. Handguns are for killing people. The only result from more guns in people's hands is more dead people. Not safer people, deader people.

If you want to carry a gun carry it. I hope anyone reading ths never has to use their gun. The only result will be death.
If you want a gun for protection in your house then by all means have a gun. Have 10. but for that gun to protect you you have to protect the gun(s).
Bad guys do not buy guns they steal them from us. Then that gun cannot protect you anymore.

More guns in more places means more shootings. That' all. Not safer people.

I do not have a gun and I am safer than those of you who have one.

Well, I disagree as if you are trained on gun use, the only result is not death. Protection does not mean death of an attacker.

On this thread, two posts discussed a woman being attacked.....one with her dog. Both of these women fought back. I wonder if they had been armed, if they could have better defended themselves? And, still be alive? The dog was spared his life. She was decapitated. The other was violently beaten to her death.

I do agree that this bill should not have been tacked onto the credit card bill. The House and The Senate could have rejected the bill to have the two issues split.

BLAMEOBAMABLAMEOBAMABLAMEOBAMABLAMEOBAMABLAMEOBAMA

There that covers all of the right wingers.

Guns in parks? Guns in bars and restaurants? Guns in yo undies? Guna Guns Guns

What is it about packing one that makes sense if you are not in law enforcement or are not out hunting? I'm glad that law is not in effect that would allow guns on beaches or someone would shoot me when I politely ask them to fill in a hole, remove their crap from the beach that night, etc. Sometimes I am not so polite. That's when the stuff would hit the sand.

So BLAMEOBAMABLAMEOBAMABLAMEOBAMA then BLAMEDEMOCRATSBLAMEDEMOCRATS
Then whatever arm everyone

even bears

Two points:

First, what's with all the "blame" stuff? I credit President Obama for signing the bill with the amendment! Like I said before, I'm happy.

Second, you will be unhappy to know that there is no law against concealed weapons on the beach as long as the person with the weapon has a permit.

Actually I have been trained to use firearms.
My wife and I worked a cash business in NOLA for 10 years, and we needed guns and we needed to know how to use them. We both were at shooting ranges weekly, and so was our son he was 10. We all learned from cops, and gun nuts, and took several short courses.
We were told to keep the gun in our hand when carring out money, loaded and ready to shoot. if threatened, shoot for the torso, and keep shooting untill they are down.
That is the opnly way a gun protects you. Kinda final isn't it.
Every Cop I ever spoke to said if you shoot shoot to kill. If you miss keep shooting until they are dead...no exceptions.
No one shoots to wound. That's what ballbats are for.
If you have a gun for your protection, kill who you are shooting at. Don't kid yourself. If you have a gun, you will kill someone if you use it out of fear.
If want to wound, carry a crowbar.
A gun does you no good unless you fire it. If you pull it out shoot it. If you shoot, shoot to kill.
That is the only way it will protect you. If you shoot someone who is at your house illeagally and just wound them, then you are no longer protected. They will sue you, and press charges on you. If you kill them they cannot.

I will only use a gun to kill, and I do not use a gun.
But when I get one, and I may, I will only shoot to kill. Because that is what everyone else is going to do regaurdless of what they have been taught.
Why don't you ask the last few people to be shot by cops around here. Can't they are dead.

As far as the source on this......
Yes it is the person behind the trigger not the gun that kills, But without a gun the person is likely to not kill.

That is just how I feel about it.

Matt, I've heard, 'shoot to kill.' It depends.......I don't know if I could kill someone. I was always taught to shoot 'em in the knee or foot and immobilize 'em......this, of course, if there is no opposing gun (or, gauging its size). I guess we won't know unless the situation arises and I sincerely hope none of you are ever in such a situation. I hope I'm never in a situation like this either.

Sweet Pea and I were attacked by a huge dog (bigger than her) and that was horrifying! I thought I was history! I can't fathom something bigger or a human with a mean spirit!

all I can say is...............
If you have a gun for protection, someone will be shot.
I don't like guns because of that. I don't want to have one. If someone else has one and so do I and I need protecting, that guy is dead.
I don't ever wish to be a part of that.
The only thing I can do to make sure it doesn't happen is to not have a gun.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel strongly about it.
I just sold 2 guns a month or 2 ago. Actually the 2 guns we had in NOLA.
What a relief.
I've shot them last year on a 3 day hunting trip. It was cool.
I'm not against guns, but the policys around them are crap.
Make no mistake, the NRA only wants to sell guns.
Smith and Wesson do not need a bailout.
I think the legislation was only added to hold up the bill. didn't work.
Having credit cards and a gun is a bad combination

If you are going to shoot someone, you aim for the biggest target - their torso, not their kneecap, their big toe (have you heard the word ricochet?) or their pinky finger.

FTLOG if you insist on being armed at least learn some basic gun safety and common sense and stop thinking you are in a movie - where bullets always go where they are supposed to and everyone has aim that would impress an Olympic sharpshooter.

Trained and alert law enforcement personnel aren't as accurate as you think you will be while stressed out and fighting for your life. :bang:

One of the ways they have found to simulate the stress of these situations is to toss firecrackers at the feet of the shooter at the range.

How accurate do you think you would firing while firecrackers were going off at your feet? Because that's a generous representation of how accurate you be in the actual situation.

Oh, I'm sure it's a stressful event for all. For each situation, however, it depends.
