I thought the same thing last night, KDW! I'm really picky about my p-nut butter. My mom raised me on Peter Pan. But since most of ours gets stuck into the dog chew toy, I may switch brands when I do my monthly trek to Wal-Mart!

:eek:That is so scary. Yesterday at my kids school, they conficated all pb&j sandwiches. If you brought one, you didn't get to eat it.

Does the school have that right? Did they replace the meal for the child?

:dunno: My tastebuds say Peter Pan over JIF. :D

I have both in the cabinet now and the PP is the 211#, so I guess we'll be polishing off the JIFF.

I have a 1/3rd consumed jar of Great Value 2111 sitting in the pantry right now. Whew, the incidence of Salmonella gastroenteritis is about to skyrocket...and just watch the civil court dockets swell:roll:

CNN said that there were no cases of salmonella in GA. But the department chair of nursing where I'm a prof said that she had two jars of 2111 in her pantry bought in GA. We don't eat peanut butter at our house (hubby despises it, along with mayonnaise, ketchup, and coffee, so I have just adapted to his peccadillos). But Beach Jacket likes peanut butter, so I warned her.

"Inside peanut butter, outside jelly. Seven different days a week, seven different Chevys."

Yes, they did replace it with a ham and cheese sandwich, but my son said it looked gross and he was glad he didn't have pb&j.

I guess they were trying to be helpful, the first I heard of the recall was on my way to work, I'm guessing they did it in case other parents hadn't heard it either. We are a small catholic school and it seems our principal does A LOT of stuff that would not be allowed in public schools.
