I always pay attention to what SWGB says. I will suggest they change the name to JC's Off the Hoof.

IMO it's never been a good thing when people rave about the steaks at a seafood restaurant. ;-)
In the interest of fairness, one of the owner's of Nick's informed me that JC's :Dsteaks were excellent. I cannot speak from personal experience because I seldom buy a steak out. We do our own as my wife says mine cannot be beat. :D

Steaks at Andy's! No one is allowed to mention health care. All discussions will center around college football and sunsets. :D

I'm all for giving JC's a fair shot at impressing me the next time I come down; however, I'm not going to hang my hat on the nail of this review as all the items that are listed are no brainer appetizers. Anybody can cook / heat those items up wih no effort...

I love this! I too always listen to SWGB. he usually gets it right, but even if he doesn't, his smartbutt comments are always right on target.

I decided to go to JC's last night with three of my gull friends just to have a few cocktails and next thing you know we were having dinner.

The four of us decided on splitting the following for a last minute smorgasbord.

lb of steamed shrimp
fried green beans
sweet potatoe fries
hushpuppies
mozzarella stixs

Over all it was enjoyable and plenty to eat (for four) not to mention the affordabilty.

Sowallers give it a try.................I think you'll agree.;-)

thanks for your review Joho. If they have good fried seafood, then I'm all for it. I think I'll give it a try.

One of the complaints about JC's in the other huge negative thread was the fact that most of their food is frozen and reheated and served with little actual cooking going on. I believe that SWGB was pointing out that this lone positive post didn't really show a change in that trend. With so many world class restaurants available locally, one expects a little more then reheated publix level frozen food. :dunno:

my husband and i went to jc's the first few weeks it was opened. we were happy that a new restaurant was opening close to home. however, other than the service, the experience was pretty generic. we are not picky about our food but the portions were small, and the food tasted fairly bland. did like the more reasonable prices. decor really needed a punch up - reminded me of a ponderosa restaurant.

we have not gone back but haven't ruled it out. we know that sometimes restaurants need some time before they really get their act together.

on another note, shorty's really needs the locals to patronize their restaurant. it never seems busy but has good food, reasonable prices and a great view.
