I have family, "God love 'em" "Bless their hearts" and all that who do not want Obama as president and I know it is because he is black. "They're taking over our country". He could have programs & policies that they would never accept because it came from his administration.
They have had little exposure to other cultures or even many blacks. It is a rather homogenous area. There is a level of fear that might not exist if they had, or took, the opportunity to travel and experience other people and places. I think there are lots of areas of our country that lack the diversity which allows kids to grow up understanding those of different races better. It can go far to help with the racist attitudes and hate that exists in some people.

There are posters on this board who oppose many of the administration's policies, but I get no impression that it is for any reason of race, then there are others who simply exude bigotry and it makes me sick to read.

.

Yes but what percentage of the people who disagree with Obama's policies feel this way? Carter said a majority of the opposition was due to racism. He basically called me a racist. (Thanks for the defense if you meant posters like myself.)

I think Carter sees ghosts of his past in Obama's presidency and he's frustrated, maybe even more frustrated than Joe Wilson. :D IMHO, the race card is an easy and very cruel and dangerous card to play, and as a former president, I think Carter should have chosen his words more carefully.

IMO Mr. Carter can go F himself for saying that. I think he sees ghosts of his past in Obama's presidency and he's frustrated, maybe even more frustrated than Joe Wilson. I don't know, but probably more than we would imagine. :dunno:

And yes, playing the race card adds to the problems and hatred. This is something I have no doubt Obama wants to avoid, but sadly it isn't going to happen anytime soon.

I'll say it again, Hamas Jimmy's anti semitic ways put him in no position of authority when it comes to calling out bigotry.

I think that the majority of the opposition is from people just like me who don't give a rip what color he is - we hate his policies - not him or his skin color.

The irony of all this race baiting is that President Obama is the one paying the price.

Carter says, "I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he is African-American,".

I believe Carter is referring to the majority of the really of-the-wall stuff when he attributes opposition to racism. He's focusing on the nutcases from what I gather. I believe he is spot on in his assessment of these people.

What is intensely demonstrated animosity exactly, can you cite an example? If I read this correctly he is talking about a very slim monority of people, in which case, there's no real relevance to what these folks have to say or Carter's statement about them. What bugs me is when the left attempts to corral a large portion of the people who are against Obama's policies in with this group.

I gave my thoughts and examples of this animosity in post #15. I really don't see what's so difficult to understand. It's plain as day. I see no attempt on Carter's part to lump every critic in with the ignorant douchebag racists.
