It was bound to happen--first time in almost 3000 posts, and I DISAGREE with Scooty!
I thought the Julie Powell character was perfect as the modern day 30 year old girl who is getting a late start in life and then finding her passion. She contrasted nicely to the real Julia.
Instead of annyoying and whiney, I found her to be, initially, a confused wanderer whose esteem and maturity level slowly percolates throughout the movie!
