Don't let me tell you how to set the therm in your own house, but if you want to lower your bills, take note, and live more in harmony.

We did some work in paxton to day and a lady said if ya chain a big dog next to the power meter it'll get cha 3 months of power before they can cut ya off.:yikes: Just an idea.

That reminds me of some S#%t I have heard in Tennessee :D :D

Our power bill for the last couple months (with gulf power) has been well over $200, and we keep our air set at 78 24/7. It was never for $170 until recently...

I'm not saying I disagree, What I am saying is I like to sleep "peacefully" at night. :D To be fair, I must add that I like it COLD too.

That just never made sense to me. Covers can be more appreciated in the winter time. If you guys want to complain about power bills, ditch the covers and turn the therms up. 81 degrees feels like a cooler when you come in from 100 degree temps. Your internal body temp is 98, so do some simply math, avoid drinking lots of alcohol and eat low cal cooler foods in the summer. It ain't rocket science. ;-)
yeah, but i'm from the great big north and unless I'm at about 73-74 at night even with all that advice i'm hot.......so guess what ....$198! yes, i'm the guy in shorts in Dec,Jan, Feb....and if your lucky i'm in shoes not flips!

I've been guilty of this a time or two... but overall I don't get it either. My A/C hoovers around 78 degrees (the difference between were the theromstat is and the rest of the house is always plus a few degrees)

The thing that makes it cool is two oscilationing fans.

My A/C kicked off as I was typing this.

You beat me. Mine is $81, but I'm on budget billing. Still, I live like Smiling Joe:

Sometimes we're birds of a feather, SJ. I do turn on my little window unit in the bedroom at night because I don't like to wake up sweaty, but half the time I wake up cold and have to turn it back off. The thermometer in my house says 80 right now, and the only things running are the ceiling fans. (And after being in a refrigerated school all day, I'm comfortable!)

I knew I  you NoHall!

I remember staying with my Grandparents and them freezing me all the time. I'm a Florida girl that only uses the AC in the car when it is really sticky outside. They would leave a blanket in the car for me when I would visit them --- I was always cold. :D

(Sorry I know this is very off topic but I'm sleepy and I thought it was a cute story.)

My parents keep a blanket in their car for me, too! :D

I'm so looking forward to fall --- having the windows open.

Even at work. I miss hearing birds, and other critters. :sosad: Instead I just hear the rumble of the AC.

I'll hang out clothes, use cold water to wash clothes and turn lights off except the room I'm in etc but I gotta be cool. My Aug. bill $192.00 and I live in a 2 bedroom cabin in the middle of the woods.(which is naturally coolier anyway) But I keep it on 70 unless I'm getting dressed then I drop it to 68. On the flip side last winter I never even cut the central heat on. I use gas logs in my bedroom and fireplace insert in the living room. oh i also use ceiling fans and have a sm. fan blowing directly on me in bed. SJ don't be too hard on me...
