My brother and I both had ours removed before I went to college as a preventitive measure (better to schedule it, then have a problem during school was the thinking). With me, Mom just got to be entertained by me being goofy coming out of anesthesia and then I had to avoid certain foods for a couple days - didn't even fill the prescription for pain pills. My brother (of course) had some minor complications and freaked Mom out because he seemed to be bleeding alot. He had major puffy cheeks for a day or two, mine lasted maybe a day. We both had the surgery friday and were back at school monday and eating normally in a couple days.
I vote she have the surgery now rather then at food heavy holidays as the worst part for me was the dietary limitations.
The only concern my parents had about doing it was that we would be under anesthesia.
