Stone's throw from Inlet Bch
Last month the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety came out against these vehicles being on busy roads with other traffic:

"News Release | May 20, 2010
Low-speed vehicles and minitrucks shouldn't share busy public roads with regular traffic

ARLINGTON, VA ? More states are allowing a relatively new breed of vehicle on public roads, but crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety show why the mix of low-speed vehicles (LSVs) or minitrucks and regular traffic is a deadly combination. LSVs are designed for tooling around residential neighborhoods, and minitrucks are for hauling cargo off-road. While these vehicles have a lot of appeal as a way to reduce emissions and cut fuel use, they don't have to meet the basic safety standards that cars and pickups do, and they aren't designed to protect their occupants in crashes."

Douglas, that's not my vehicle. But evidently I *am* the ass in the photo! ;)

I wish someone else would have said that so i could have replied with-

"Hehawlways calls me that!"

RDavies,
After the last multi page thread did you really think anyone would have changed their mind?

It's not a vocal majority against lowering the speedlimit to accomodate golf carts that have no business being on a county road. It's just a majority.

I thought I smelled dead horse.

Personally I like stopping them and then asking if I get the towels from them or call the front desk. The looks are great and the teenage girls want to crawl under them when they realize they are riding on the linen cart.

No, my opinion hasn't changed. Got behind one day before yesterday and they pulled over to let me pass. Called the sheriff's office, though, as the kids riding on the back seat facing my oncoming vehicle, did not have their seat belts fastened.:D

They're 'neighborhood electric vehicles' now? 'LSV' wasn't good enough? More pages of pleading rhetoric about 2 miles of 45?

Since the acronym has changed we need a new thread.

On a serious note, I am seeing a lot more golf carts on 30A.

When was the last time a biker on 30a has pulled over to let a car pass?

That's opposte my experience Kurt. The last time I was in Seaside, I snapped a photo on my phone of the modica area, and it was WALL to Wall the worst offending MPG hogs in the world... Armada, Hummer, Armada, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Expedition (poor folks),

The picture, to me, spoke a thousand words. Walton County might make the next edition of The Onion, if they can seriously be seen to be leading a charge against LSV's, and off shore drilling simultaneously, while chomping down fish tacos at Bud & Alleys surrounded by Tahoes and Armadas... what a cool story this is going to be.
