I think the GOP is pushing for a Romney win, but I think, unless Obama shoots himself in the foot, you are right on about him being the Dem nominee. Last night, I think Romney backing up Pres. Bush, showed who he really is, and how he thinks. Politicians want status quo, because that keeps them and their friends in business. I have a feeling that they will push hard enough that Romney will win. IMO, he needs to do a bit more acting, to pull it off.

I disagree that the GOP wants Romney, I think they want anyone but Huckabee, who is not a true conservative. What makes you think that Romney, who is a Washington outsider, will keep his "friends" in business--assuming that he has any friends in Washington. If anyone has friends in Washington it is McCain.

Romney acting??? It amazed me the bias that so many people have against someone who is successful. Isn't the American dream to work hard and succeed? Isn't that what all of us want? Isn't that what makes this country great?

The media has been completely biased against Romney--his ads in Iowa were not "attack" ads. He was addressing the issues and McCain and Huckabee are angry because they can't defend their record.

I think you misunderstand what I'm saying, CCK. I said that Romney needed to do some acting, not that he has been acting. Winning the President's Office has typically been done by acting. I think Romney could look a little smoother by showing less emotion when the other candidates throw jabs. That is part of the acting which I'm referring to. I think he is fairly polished, but it appears that he will need to shine a bit more to beat Sen Obama.

I think the GOP does want Romney to be their candidate, and if you don't think he is connected in DC, how do you think he convinced GW Bush to let him make his announcement for candidacy at Bush Sr's Library? If that isn't connected to DC, I'm not sure what is. Friends are the ones sending money his way, as well as the "friends" of GW Bush.

I will say that negative campaigns and smear ads are used because they work. Anyone not using that approach, even if doing so secretly, doesn't have a good chance of winning.

In last night's debate, Romney was questioned about his negative ads on McCain's amnesty. Romney defended himself over and over, stating that his ads didn't say that McCain's plan for immigration included amnesty for illegals. Today, on ABC, Romney was shown the ads which he ran, and they proved him wrong about the negative ads against McCain. OOPS! He stated that his advisers informed him of the mistake after the debate, and he had not seen the ads.

I bet it would be tough to hire campaign strategists to help you win, especially when they work against you sometimes. Just trying to stay on the same page with some of those rats (smear-heads), would prove difficult for anyone. Now, Romney has to do some backtracking, rather than focusing on today.

CCK, did you vote in my poll?

In case anyone missed it Romney won Wyoming with Thompson in second and Duncan Hunter third. Wouldn't it suck to live in Wyoming and know that no one cares that you had your Republican caucus over the weekend?

:rotfl:That is funny, who knew???..Unless of course Wyomians (people from Wyoming?) actually like it that way, off the radar screen--something to be said for being out of the spotlight.

I wonder what Mittens $pent in WY?

Isn't Wyoming the least populated state in the US? I love the land of Wyoming, but I don't think they even have a TV station to report the news. lol.

 Talk about a problem with the frontal part of the brain......McCain is clearly the most qualified and honest of all the candidates, with the possible exceptions of Hucksterbee and Obama. If McCain scares you , you must scare easily. McCain is the real deal. I don't agree with him on many issues, especially, his comment today that he agreed with Bush about invading Iraq despite no WMD's. But he has the judgement and integrity and consistency of philosophy to warrant trust. What you see is what you get.....no surprises. Oddly, McCain is the candidate to really bring change to Washington!!! He knows where all the bodies are. He knows how DC works and he more than anyone else can change the system. Remember Nixon the anti-communist is the president who opened China and had a reproacment with the old Soviet Union. McCain takes no lobbyist or special interest money. The lobbiests are the ones who should be quacking, not you.
why do you care for his judgement, if, at this late date,he still thinks Iraq was a good move? I'm curious! His chiding of Romney with the change comment and the accompanying facial expressions seemed childlike and not of the caliber of a seasoned statesman. Is McCain in step with his party on illegal immigration? McCain's demeanor appears to be inflexible, arrogant, and reminiscent of an older GW......and I say this as someone who would consider voting for the man.

She makes me want to secede...again...

There is no way that someone like that will ever have my respect as a leader.
NoHall, it should be no surprise, Hillary is married to America's self-titled, first black President.
