Of course more blacks will vote for Obama he is 1/2 black and according to his book prefers to considered a black. I will not argue that point.

so glad you aren't going to argue the fact that Senator Obama is actually African American. thought people were past this part by now. at the least.

my statement went over your head at 50,000 feet....if it does not apply to you, so be it. But my viewpoint has to do with the Bush Doctrine and premptive war. It has to do with a Republican party that has raided the coffers of our country by selling fear of an enemy far above any real threat and simultaneously cutting taxes. Engaging in a guns or butter debate does not make you a socialist nor less of a patriot. Look at your own party and count black participation. done? Repubs have done nothing to reach out to blacks, and are defacto racists by their lack of effort. This week mcCain gave up on Michigan, no doubt due to the large African american population, and their long suffering economy. Again, like other conservative folks on this board, the statement may or may not apply to you. Personally, there's no Repub party left for me. It's been stolen by war mongering idiots. I'm registering as an independent after the election. McCain has run a bitter, negative campaign with his unqualified, goon, attack dog from Alaska. No matter though, as I believe he always knew GW threw him under the bus....currently McCain is headed for defeat while harping about military victory. I've been listening to that garbage since I was a kid, and you were in Nam. "Peace with honor"- Richard Jailhouse Nixon referring to our tenure in Vietnam...sound familiar today? i thought so!

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, flawed as it may be, and me to mine, ditto. Garbage? Maybe that is why guys likes me have the attitude we do because we realize it wasn't just "garbage" until many not willing to put anything on the line said it was. "Peace with honor"? Anything but. Thousands of dead Vietnamese the public never heard about because the media wouldn't tell them. Thousands of "boat people" who became good productive American citizens because they were allowed to immigrate here legally. A war and 58,000 lives lost because we had a Congress without the fortitude or guts to fund the military while continuing to fund subsistance programs fraught with fraud, mishandling and corruption. Bob, you and I will never agree on how this country has developed over the last 40 years, not just the last 8. Come to the Soiree and we'll talk about it. Otherwise this discussion is over because we will never see eye to eye. Peace be with you, my man.

Vietnam was garbage in, garbage out...those folks on the wall, my family included, were used up for a lousy cause. Dien Bien Phu meant nothing to those who think a nation's government should only be decided in Washington D C. I suppose the Viet Cong were all terrorists fighting for Lenin in a far away land? That you can't see it, says it all, and illuminates your current viewpoint. I could care less about changing your mind. Iraq is the same folly, and war is not the answer to those who don't side with us....never has been.
