What would Obama do to bring down the price of gasoline?
According to CNN a minute ago, Obama's policy is:
No gas tax holiday
No increase in offshore drilling.
Increase fuel standards to 50 mpg by 2026.

McCain's policy:
Gas tax holiday.
More offshore drilling.
Reduce limitations on new refineries.
More nuclear power.

Schork on CNN is saying that McCain has the better policy because it addresses both supply and demand.

No, McCain has a short term pandering plan that will not create a long term solution.

Crazy Obama - he wants us to use less gas and isn't for a "gas holiday" that will cut revenue that funds repair of our crumbling infrastructure.

Thanks for commenting on the thread. So, what about campaign financing? One reason I posted this article is that so many Obama detractors have accused Obama of being "soft" even called him "sissy man" because of his bowling style! Although Brooks saddled him with some pretty strong, negative actions -- he also "damned him with faint praise" by saying he had the kind of strength that could stand up to the Putins and dictators of the international community. I would hope that someone running for President of the United States understands and can cope with the nuances of power.

Obama has energized young voters like never before. He has also deftly used the web to motivate small donations from the masses, so to speak. Now, he has enough money that he doesn't need the public campaign money. I cannot see how that is a bad thing or how it makes him have a split personality. In the case of public campaign money, I believe that represents the funds extracted from taxpayers on their 1040, of course, based on their election to do so. Anything remotely related to income taxes is bad....lol. I much prefer Obama's straight ahead 21st century style of raising funds.

First, Obama supported public financing of presidential campaigns. Now, he wants to take advantage of his grassroots fundraising ability and has changed his mind. From a campaign standpoint, it makes lots of sense. From a long-term policy standpoint, it shows another side of him.

New York Times columnist David Brooks (a Republican) has written a very interesting piece about Obama's two personalities.

"This guy is the whole Chicago package: an idealistic, lakefront liberal fronting a sharp-elbowed machine operator. He?s the only politician of our lifetime who is underestimated because he?s too intelligent. He speaks so calmly and polysyllabically that people fail to appreciate the Machiavellian ambition inside."

I don't agree with all he says, but it's worth a read. Obama is definitely not a John Kerry. Check it out

All I can say is that O's decision opens him up to lots of funding so that he can easily run a 50 state campaign. If he hadn't done what he did I would question his judgment, intelligence and ability to lead our country. Good to see he knows how to play hardball. As for McBush and his supporters, I've said it before and I'll say it again: :violin:

So Obama privatizes his general election campaign, breaks a major campaign promise to the American public, and his supporters rally behind him. That's not change, that hypocrisy.

Pushing for 45 new nuclear power plants in 12 years is "short term"?

no republican in modern history has played fair. You would like to see Obama handicap himself so swift boat morons can snipe at him. He has proven to be smarter than that.

Nope. I'm just giggling at the fact that he's placed himself on the same level. Welcome to the "not playing fair" club Dems, you're finally learning.
