LOS ANGELES — Patrick Swayze has died after a nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Swayze's publicist Annett Wolf says the 57-year-old "Dirty Dancing" actor died Monday with family at his side. He came forward about his illness last spring, but continued working as he underwent treatments.
It was 1987 when Swayze became a star with his performance in "Dirty Dancing," a coming-of-age story set in a Catskills resort. The 1990 film "Ghost" cemented his status as a screen favorite.
Swayze played a murdered man trying to communicate with his fiancee through a spirit played by Whoopi Goldberg.

He kept on working even after it was disclosed in March 2008 that he had a particularly deadly form of cancer. He starred in "The Beast," an A&E drama series, and said he and his wife were working on a memoir.

He fought a good fight against a bastard of a disease. Pancreatic cancer is pretty much always bad news. This is personally poignant as the husband of one of Fuzz's co-workers - 48 years old, graduated from Walton High with Fuzz - is battling it now. By the time you get symptoms, bounce around from doctor to doctor with delays between appointments complaining that your stomach hurts BAD, and they finally diagnose it, too much time for an early cure has passed.

RIP, Patrick Swayze...:sosad:

This is so sad, he has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. I loved him in The Outsiders, Red Dawn, Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Point Break, and Donnie Darko - he is unforgettable in each. He and his wife were an inspiration and totally flouted the stereotypical Hollywood romance. He will be greatly missed.

What a beautiful picture of them together. He lived a full life and fought it till the end, it seems.

My father-in-law Alan is fighting Pancreatic Cancer with every ounce of energy he has, but it's just so bittersweet to hear him talk positively on the days he feels he's winning the battle. Beating pancreatic cancer seems to be impossible.

The picture, I will bet money was taken on Lay Lake, just south of Birmingham, (Columbiana) where he had a gorgeous home and ranch on the water. I have fished his seawalls many times and marvelled at his gorgeous home and horses. God Bless him and his family.
