So the "real" story is that the President used teleprompters when giving a prepared speech on policy to the press?

I was not aware we had run out of actual news to report.

And find it sad that the President of our country meets with our children and THAT is what gets reported/focused on.

There are those who want President Obama to fail at everything...and some of them will do anything to assist that failure.

Not in my opinion - think it's just a way to disparage his public speaking.

God forbid our nation's school children take away the lesson that it's okay to use technology to make things easier or as a back-up.

That's what I'm saying. Never understood the obsession with the teleprompter, when it's just a better way to perform an age old task.

I am sure George Washington faced the same issues, it just was not shared around the world on the Internet.

And I am sure the next President will be faced with the same issue.

I also think many want the President to succeed, I know I do. Even if someone did not vote for the current President, it does not serve anyone's best interest for the President to fail.

What a great lesson to our elementary students that the President of the US can't talk to them without his 2 teleprompters?!?!? And people thought GWB was incompetent??? I think I would take my chances with Dubya in an quiz bowl over Obama; however, I would take Obama's teleprompters over both.

See the photo at the link below showing the ridiculous set-up at the elementary school.

just to be clear... please go back and look at the photos you provided from the Yahoo photo/news you referenced in your link. the picture of teleprompters was a press conference. the relaxed President in the classroom was the event you were referring to I believe. in the link you provided there was nothing to indicate the President gave a speech to elementary students using teleprompters (not that there is anything wrong with that). in fact all photos with the students were very relaxed, casual & pretty cool looking.

apparently you have seen misleading news from another source and decided to post it here as your own commentary on the yahoo photos/news?

thanks Minnie for providing the real story and so quickly! yes, every poster has every right to post news - and even put whatever spin they prefer on it. but misleading / incorrect information for inflammatory purposes just has no purpose. its a waste of time. that's just my opinion.

perhaps the story should have been reported from the first that there are anti-President bloggers and individuals out there deliberately & irresponsibly spreading misinformation? that's not very interesting or unique but at least it would have been truthful.

OK, I was misled; but I am floored at what a "great orator" he supposedly is when he is incapable of giving a speech without his teleprompters. Can he not brief the media without his teleprompter, seriously? It is not a great lesson to students that all that is needed to give a good speech is to look right and read, then look left and read, and follow that up with a "let me be clear." As a voter for GWB twice, I could not believe how the left, media, and most of the anti-me posters on this board truly believed that a Yale and Harvard educated Bush 2 was basically handicapped by his religion and lack of intelligence. It is not a wish for Obama to fail as much as me pointing out that he is not the godsend or intellectual that many of you would like to make him out to be.

would that those 2 institutions admitted gw on academic merit and not family history? you don't need to go nixon about double-ewe's lack of intellectual prowess. of course, stupidity is in the eye of the beholder. care to compare both men attempting to use the english language? i thought not.

Is the reason GW didn't use teleprompters because he couldn't read?

Finally, GW talks to school children - largest terrorist attack ever on US soil. Obama talks to school children - conservatives wig out over use of teleprompters.

Personally I'll take teleprompters.
