just to be clear, i think brad's suggestion/question is for beach based recycling of cans and bottles taken to/used at the beach. hopefully people will continue to use the county drop-off locations for their household recycling.

Thanks John R, you are exactly right. This is for those cans and bottles that are taken to the beach. One issue that we are thinking about is that bottles are not allowed on the beach so should we have recycling bins for them... The last thing we need to do is send mixed messages. Thanks again to all and please keep commenting.:D

That is like telling your teenager to not have sex and giving them a condom at the end of the lecture.

Grayton Beach!
Maybe the glass one could be a "reminder" that no glass is allowed on beaches-(meaning- get rid of it BEFORE going onto the beach!!):dunno:

This seems like a great use of tax monies if you ask me. Since all of the garbage in Walton County is taken to a huge metal building and hand sorted by murderers and pedophiles for free, we can certainly make life easier for them as well as spending some more our dollars. I would much rather see life easier for the criminals than doing something useful, like buying beach sand.

The TDC is considering installing recycling containers for cans and glass at our six regional beach accesses and some of our highly used neighborhood accesses. We are curious if the users on this board would use the containers. This is not set in stone as we are still researching how we can implement it but I would like your input. Thanks in advance.

Not that I would throw my garbage from home into these bins, but I for one would feel better if prisoners, who have nothing but time on their hands, were not spending all day searching (I mean sorting) through my garbage hoping to score a social security number or a credit card number. I am thankful for the people who invented the diamond shredders..

By the way, have you seen the proposal for the amount of additional costs to do something which is aready being done? :dunno:-- That something being collecting garbage.
