YouTube - When the World Stopped Turning: A 9/11 tribute

I remember flags flying over houses, cars, businesses, churches, and everywhere you went after 911. It was so awesome.
All of a sudden America stood together.
When I watched the explosions in disbelief, I thought the world was coming to an end, cause how could this happen in America unless it was the end? After everything I'd been through in my life, somehow, some part of me remained naive. The first thing I thought of was rounding up my kids from school and hiding them- but where would you go to hide from a bomb, had this been a continued attack?
In a childlike way, I grew up trusting that in America we were safe from wars and mass weaponry. 911 changed that thought. Staring in horror as the twin towers turned to smoke, I turned to God immediately and prayed for the protection of our country, and again in a childlike way believed he would.
During this attack, some of us died, some were wounded, and those of us that watched were somehow left with the scars of battle, but we didn't back down. We held up the one symbol that unites us all and banded together, wounded, but ready to fight. I have a deep love for the military men and women, for the hero that remains nameless to most of us, and for those that continue to love. There's no easy road for anyone.

Right here!

Or did our collective fear finally subside enough to give way back to our various differences? Like everyone then I was comforted by the flag waving and friendliness and patriotism in the air. But we are a very opinionated bunch, and once we felt safe again (or safer), we went back to what we were doing before it all happened. Not necessarily a bad thing. :D

Dear point blank(kkddbb), matter of fact(30ashopper), and receptive(Ash)-love ya- its the DIFFERENT ingredients in the pie that make it tastes so good- speak on! (trying to respond in- tongue in cheek- Dear Abby fashion) please forgive me if u can- i'll try to never do it again- thats a flat out lie
my great granddaddy was a sheriff- when they had to move a prisoner from one place to another, he would bring them to his house and handcuff them to the foot of the bed- how weird- I never met him, but sure had some strange mind pictures of what he might look like
i guess a little justice gene snuck its way down the bloodline and probably a little weird gene along with it-
all for stickin together while bein different- the word tolerance came to mind- the ability to tolerate the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with-(and I'm not sayin i do this all the time) the main reason I wrote the post was for the military men and women, the heroes, and those that continue to love- grew up in a political family- so just not interested in the debate- never was- in my family, they probably thought that was the weird gene- thanks for your input- and you're welcome ash-apologize for the incorrect english sentence structure in this post (thats also a flat out lie)- just not in the mood to do it the right way
somebody once told me that forgiveness is not for the one that did the wrong , but for the one that received the wrong- if the one that received the wrong forgives, he is free from that tie
i always say yea well that doesn't mean i have to go jump back in the snake pit where they came from either

Yup, treat others like you want to be treated not matter what. Very hard at times but worth it in the end.

love the red, white, and, blue avatar- you sound sweet and thoughtful-alot of people don't think that way- I'm glad you do- I try to do this, but sometimes I notice a good swift kick in the pants has amazing results, especially if someone is abusive and thinks other people are supposed to put up with it- sometimes nice doesn't work- I grew up stuttering and had alot of fear to speak to people- I was made fun of quite often and didn't say anything- I don't like when people are picked on so I speak now regardless of the consequences- the worst that could happen is that someone would kill you and I'm gonna die one day anyway-speak on!!!

I kinda forgot myself, but remembered when Minnies friend died- why at this time with somebody I don't know I can't tell you. Allison was in the military and I already have a respect for people that serve our country in that way. While they are somewhere fighting for our freedom we are just fighting. You're so cute the way you said that because it wasn't a literal question of whether or not we forgot, but more of a salute and a what are we doing about it now type thing. That is what I love about everyone is that we think differently. Also, Minnie is very kind and when I saw the thread about her friend it made me sad for her and her family. I coudn't really do anything to help so decided to post a dedication and included the other men and women that serve. 911 is something I didn't really want to remember, but its also something I don't want to forget.
I'm continuing to pray for our country is what I'm doing about it now because I want my children to live in freedom.
I drink filtered water and I need to get out more also.

I sometimes don't follow the posting format properly by addressing who I'm talking to so if you run into a disjointed post or two...well, there it is. Hi again, 30ashopper. Yea, I don't like sad things and I usually try to avoid them if I can cause it isn't fun, but I know respect is a big deal and I know people need it whether I feel like it or not. Thanks ya'll for answering this post, I know some people probably just don't want to go there and I respect that too. Cheers to happier times and to the red, white, and blue
