YouTube - When the World Stopped Turning: A 9/11 tribute
I remember flags flying over houses, cars, businesses, churches, and everywhere you went after 911. It was so awesome.
All of a sudden America stood together.
When I watched the explosions in disbelief, I thought the world was coming to an end, cause how could this happen in America unless it was the end? After everything I'd been through in my life, somehow, some part of me remained naive. The first thing I thought of was rounding up my kids from school and hiding them- but where would you go to hide from a bomb, had this been a continued attack?
In a childlike way, I grew up trusting that in America we were safe from wars and mass weaponry. 911 changed that thought. Staring in horror as the twin towers turned to smoke, I turned to God immediately and prayed for the protection of our country, and again in a childlike way believed he would.
During this attack, some of us died, some were wounded, and those of us that watched were somehow left with the scars of battle, but we didn't back down. We held up the one symbol that unites us all and banded together, wounded, but ready to fight. I have a deep love for the military men and women, for the hero that remains nameless to most of us, and for those that continue to love. There's no easy road for anyone.
