Small, portable, easily pawned...

An iPod probably would never raise a parent's suspicion especially if they already had one. Maybe smarter than we think...

I may have been a theft victim myself in Sowal. :bang:

What did the little thieves take Mangy?

Last year my house got broken into here. It is an awful feeling. I feel bad for all of you that have had things stolen. It is so sad.

Yep, I made myself a victim too Sunday before last. I left my car unlocked at my place in Seagrove overnight. When I came out early Monday morning, my iPod was missing off my passenger seat.

Oh, well...it really sux when you let down your guard.

I knew there was a good reason why I don't have a portable music player. My 28 year old radio/cassette player (I'm not lying) is about shot, and I think I will donate it to Caring and Sharing soon, without getting a replacement. The clock and alarm still works, but the cassette part works a little bit, and the radio cannot tune in. Maybe I'll use it to throw at a thief.

I'm sorry but Caring and Sharing is for usable donations not trash/junk.

One of those times when I really, really think we're related... Mine is only 26 years old, and I stole it from my brother. But it's the only cassette recorder I could find. They don't seem to make those anymore...

We were at the beach this weekend and stopped for gas on the way back. Hubby's 4 gas cards were missing (he keeps them in the car, out of view, of course). Then we noticed that his Maui Jim sunglasses were gone, too. We're pretty religious about locking our car; obviously at some point we forgot. Oh, and it happened while at the beach because we had used the one of the cards and hubby was wearing the glasses just before we arrived at the beach.

What's weird is that they didn't steal the Tom-Tom and three other pairs of sunglasses (Oliver Goldsmith, Chanel, and Ray Ban).

I think there are definitely some folks roamin' the 'grove who are up to no good. I always lock my doors and don't have anything of value (to anyone besides me anyway) yet Walton County's finest were called because I had a late night yard/bedroom window visitor last week.

Great! Now we have pervs too!

Had an incident where the thief, this was during spring break and the police said there were several simlar break-ins, cut my convertible top for entry. NOthing of value for them to take but police suggested not locking convertible to avoid having damage to top. Good advice and I don't lock car now.
Sorry for your loss jfunn.

Boy, hate to leave it unlocked but the tops are sooo expensive. 2 years ago, the alarm on mine went off and the next morning a car had been stolen in my neighborhood. The worst for me thank heaven was a hood ornament last year.

If you believe that he was going into someone's car, but was not going to take anything or do anything else objectionable, I hear there's a bridge for sale in Brooklyn!

maybe they think that only rich people live here and that rich people can buy new stuff. lol. Not really my thought. I'm sure it is as they say, related to the lack of County investigators/detectives to follow these "petty crimes." I'm no criminologist and for all I know, some of these crimes may be felonies. The only reason I could see them giving a damn would be if a gun was stolen, because that would likely bring in the ATF (Bureau of Liquor, Ta-Backy, and Weapons), and those guys don't play around.

Guess again. I had a gun stolen several years back. I had to beg them to take prints and never heard a word from them. I was so paranoid that someone would use that gun on someone else. I felt so violated that I kept all my curtains closed and every time i went out, I'd be looking at people in the car next to me wondering if it was them. Home thefts of any kind are just not a priority, I guess.

I'm so sorry for those that have had stuff taken recently and I'm sad that we have to be worried about theft in our little paradise. Time to move onto a sailboat ;-)

BTW the theft didn't necessarily happen at Seagrove. It happened sometime between when we got gas going down and when we got gas coming home. We always lock our car doors, but obviously we slipped up once because the car wasn't broken into. The theft either happened in our driveway in Seagrove, in the Publix parking lot, at Goatfeathers in Seagrove (doubtful because of all of the storefronts), at Amore Friday night, or at Borago Saturday night. I'm guessing Borago because we parked in the back where it was dark.

The credit cards weren't used. If it happened Saturday night and we caught it Sunday at 12:45 PM, I'm guessing they didn't have time to charge anything.:dunno: They're probably using the sunglasses though.
