I love the winter months. It can be balmy or bone-chilling if you get low temps and a breeze off the water. Ever so often the area will get a hard freeze, which isn't pleasant. But mostly very mild and uncrowded. If you haven't chosen your dates yet, it is worth your while to catch two holiday events, the holiday tour at Eden Plantation/State Park in Pt. Washington and the Fesitval of Lights around Lake DeFuniak. I think they have over 3 million lights now. All the old antebellum homes around the lake are decorated beautifully, too. Winter could end up being your favorite time at South Walton.
