Beach Runner started The ATL. I think it refers to the area around Atlanta Hartsfield International which is aka as ATL. :rotfl:Either that, or it is a gangsta thing. I know many normal people in Atlanta and have never heard them refer to their town as The ATL.
LOLOL! I didn't start it - the airlines started it - you know, ATL, MSY, DFW, etc. I started listening to hip-hop music because (a) my daughter (who ironically is an accomplished classical violinist) likes it and listening to it makes me feel closer to her now that she's off at college, and (b) the anger in the music is really good to listen to when I'm running since running is a masochistic sort of sport IMHO. The hip-hop crowd calls Atlanta "the ATL." It just happens that a lot of the hip-hop crowd (like Ludacris) went to school in College Park which is where the ATL airport is located. I know that 'hood. My dad made a boatload of money in businesses and real estate on that side of the ATL, and my sister and brother both went to Woodward Academy which is also in College Park.

I'm not a normal person? You don't have to answer that. :funn: I was born and raised in Atlanna Jawga!

OMG! I play the violin and my husband plays the string bass in our church strings group. We've been practicing for Holy Week services since January. Then we found out that the minister of music had hired some professionals to play during Holy Week, and we weren't going to play. Our conductor and principal first violinist is also a professional and was giving her services for free (and her parents give a boatload of money to the church), and she resigned. Then the principal second violinist quit (and his wife was the associate minister at the church). So the minister of music got fired - I mean, he was giving us new music for Easter two weeks ago - Easter shouldn't have been a surprise for him. The church asked us to play this week. We've been given new music that the new interim minister of music can play (admittedly, his predecessor was a more accomplished organist). So we've been rehearsing several hours a day, not counting practicing at home. In the Mozart piece we're playing, I'm doing 16th notes at 90 tempo for about 15 minutes - enough to give me a seizure. The principal second violinist is a psychiatrist - he chuckled when I was passing out Xanax to the group because we were so stressed during rehearsals this week. And all of us have real jobs, too.

Anyhow, that's why I haven't been posting. On top of it all, my maid couldn't come this week, so I had to clean this huge house myself since I have family coming for Easter, and I'm cooking a big Easter dinner on Sunday. The country club is not up to my daughter's (or anyone's, for that matter) standards. We're totally into fresh ingredients, especially herbs.

Too much information. And did I say GO GATORS? :)

I knew you played violin and I figured you were rehearsing, etc. My son has been doing the same thing for the past several weeks. He played The Swan last night on his cello for Holy Thursday during communion and it was beautiful. I have to say, Mozart is probably our favorite. He played The Requiem with a youth symphony & adult choir last year.
We can all soon relax after Sunday (& clean our houses)!

Gosh, I love the cello. I wish I had chosen that instrument. But I started with violin because my daughter was doing Suzuki in first grade and she was playing violin. And the rest in history.

We did Laudate Dominum last night - gorgeous! Haven't done the Swan.
