I must be a bestseller failure. I gave up on "Eat Pray Love"- hated it. I thought it would be introspective and thought provoking and a beautiful story, but it was nothing but one-liners and cliches. So, 100 pages into it and I'm moving on.

Now I'm on "A Thousand Splendid Suns" and it is excellent like I knew it would be----

I took one glance at this one (eat/pray/love) and said, "nah"... not my cup of tea.

anyway, just started kite runner (its good already), and don't forget to save me the Suns one.

Freddy and Fredericka by Mark Helprin. This is the most biting, hysterically funny book I've read in a long time. It's a disguised story of Charles and Diana, so it helps if you're a Royal family junkie (but just as good if you're not). Helprin has a wit about him that you don't often see. Merman wouldn't let me read it in bed because I kept shaking the matress from laughing so much.

nohall, I think Miss Kitty wants Mrs Hop to play with us here on the board. we have definitely enjoyed her company in person several times - she is our official sowal dance instructor...

we'll get her on the board some day soon, I feel sure. she thinks she has to know stuff about the computer and this board to participate. we'll have to convince her that all she needs is a name and a tar, and she's off to become head dance wench.

i can prove that theory wrong

Now this sounds right up my alley.

Actually I have some wonderful friends who are Mormon. They're interesting to say the least but I love them to death.

It starts out with an odd story on a Scottish mountain top, but stick with it and you'll be so glad you did. It's funny as all get-out. If you look on www.amazon.com you can peek inside the first chapter. My ribs hurt from laughing at Freddie's (Charles') antics!
