He was one of those rare people who can never be replaced. Sunday mornings will never be the same.

So sad. Election night will not be the same without him.
I told Mr. Pod it's incredibly ironic--he died during one of the most exciting political periods in our history.

I agree. I can hardly picture it.

So sad to hear this, I had heard he was a possible moderator for the Presidential debates coming up this fall.

He was a moderator's moderator. The epitome of fairness, with an ability to connect to all. It is not an easy task. How many journalists can you think of who can pull it off?

So true. It has really been a shock. It seems like he has been on TV for a hundred years or so. He had so much going for him. It just goes to teach us to live life to its fullest.

Right here!
I can't believe how much attention the media is dedicating to this. It's as if a former president died or something. Yes, someone died today, he had a job in media, and family. That's sad. But is this really such big news that it warrents upstaging what went on in the race today? Or how many people died today in Africa, or Iraq? The air of self importance in all this just makes ill.

edit: and as you all may have guessed, I'm not a huge fan of the main street media.

30ashopper, he's one of the few people who deserves this much attention. I understand what you are saying about what is considered newsworthy and a priority, but he is an icon of note.

It's nice to see the media devoting time to a person who is famous for years of hard work, class, and dedication rather than a celebutante who can't remember to wear undies.

Considering he had 48 honorary doctorates (one received when he was the speaker at MY graduation BTW), was involved in a variety of historical events, was a successful author, and won many awards including a Congressional Medal of Honor, it's pretty sad that Brangelina's unborn twins already have more media coverage than his sudden death currently does.
