Not lazy, just refuse to work a crap job for crap wages and no benefits while paying for health and childcare.

as demands for better pay and benefits rise it will be interesting to see how small businesses handle it.

I know I would have to cut back staffing.

I remember when I used to work for a huge huge corporation and moved up the ladder at a nice pace... during that time ( early 90’s ) the company had eliminated a few positions to save money and the result was giving extra duties to existing employees. Ever since then, I’ve seen companies ( locally ) give what I would consider 3 jobs to 1 employee for one pay. I personally know people in the hospitality industry that literally run flat out to keep up with their responsibilities ( which are huge weights on their backs ). People in this town sure work hard for their money ( especially on a turn day ).

Not knowing what you do. When you cut staff how does that effect production? When you add more work to the remaining employees are they compensated accordingly or is your expectation for them to do more for the pay you provide so that your profit stays up? Not trying to slam you, serious question.

I will be filling in some of the responsibilities if I have to let someone go.

I pay well and everyone is happy currently.

If you pay well and everyone is happy why are you saying you will have to let some people go? It doesn’t add up.
