That's why my husband turned down two sports offers when he graduated from college (being sponsored for the PGA tour and an offer to play for the Dallas Cowboys) and ended up with a Ph.D. instead. I suppose if one had old money, one could gamble more because you'd have that as a backup. But he didn't have that, so he decided he'd be better using his brains than his brawn.

With athletes, it's either that or finding mega big sponsors to pay the bills. We've been watching the Olympics and I'm just shivering up and down my spine looking at the terrifying feats these athletes do. Especially the skiing. I am glad for athletes; I am in awe of them, but I'm a chicken who would choose brain power every time. Either that or a nice safe sport!

I just couldn't believe my ears when I heard it on the news. I'm sure comedians will have a field day with this.

It is so sad to see someone with that much potential and so much time and hard work invested in skating not achieve her ultimate goal. Unfortunately, she'll probably be too old in 4 years to compete, according to the sports commentators.

i thought it was kind of silly to send her anyway, she's already getting long in the tooth and she's had her time to shine. let some of the younger ones have a chance. just my opinion for what it's worth.

I bet that lawyer who was coming out of the woods to join the hunting party unannounced had wished that Dick was shooting blanks.

A smart person (note that this guy is an attorney) would know not to walk unannounced toward a group of men who were hunting. I bet that #7 bird shot hurts a bit, but the guy will probably survive.

Well let's be fair. They had sanctioned the lawyer and that had failed. Perhaps he had WMD or was somehow connected to 9-11.

It's the CIA's fault for sending out the bad information on the lawyer anyway. ;-)
