Careful with the car analogy. It is indeed no small task for sober responsible people to operate a motor vehicle. They have to pass written and road tests. They must register the cars and have proof of insurance. Gun owners are not held to nearly as high a standard when it comes to a demonstration of responsibility.

There are allot of folks who have a license that shouldn't be driving. Look at any meth/crack head, any alcoholic, certain senior citizens or any teenagers whose parent bought him/her the fastest car on the lot and turned them loose on society with little or no driving experience, even though they all passed the test.

Bottom line is guns don't kill people, guns in the hands of irresponsible people do.

It would be a lot worse if we just let anyone get behind the wheel without any kind of enforcement of safety standards.

I'm not disagreeing with you LOTB but we do let just anyone get behind the wheel and I gave you several examples.

I think there are some pretty tough gun laws when it comes to ownership but are they tough enough? Obviously not, they didn't keep guns out of the hands of Dylann Roof (S.C), John Houser (LA), Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold (Columbine), James Post (CO)...not to mention all the illegal/stolen guns owned by irresponsible morons who use them in "turf wars" or irresponsible parents who don't lock them away from children.

I guess my question is how do you regulate responsibility? Obviously the answer is you can't because if you could, we wouldn't be seeing the types of destruction we do because of irresponsible gun owners.

"guns don't kill people" Ha ha ha ha!
Nice out of context reply Jimmy T.

But let's not get this twisted either! What I said was;
"Bottom line is guns don't kill people, guns in the hands of irresponsible people do"!!!

What are guns for?

Hint: Killing things.

And? Are you a thing? I'm not. I can totally agree with killings "things" perceived as a threat to me and if that thing happens to be a burglar in my house trying to do me or my family harm you can bet I would defend myself against that "thing". If that unfortunate "thing" happens to be a person....shame on that "thing" for being in my home without my permission.

People do have a constitutionally protected right to bare arms and defend themselves from "things".

Bear arms? Sounds hairy! Maybe you meant bare arms?
I changed it just for you Jimmy. Happy now? I wouldn't want you upset.
