Society functions properly and long term when members behave. When members lie, cheat and manipulate other members there will be problems and if left unchecked it will threaten the functions of society. Lying is more acceptable than murder I agree but there is a general moral compass toward the truth. There is a need for society to function as a whole and therefore lying, cheating and manipulating other members in society is a deviation. Mr. Weiner is a social deviate and that is the reason he apologized to his wife, family and friends because he recognized the hurt that he caused others. I believe that we are all social deviates from time to time but because we have a moral compass we learn, adjust, change, correct, and apologize when our behavior hurts others. If Mr. Weiner is sincere in his apology and corrects his behavior then he should be allowed to continue his work (even though I disagree with his politics). When society attacks or attempts to change the definition of moral behavior our society (in it's present state) will probably eventually fail. We can not justify this mans behavior for any good reason. The man should change his behavior if he wants to be part of the functions of our society just like any of us.

1. I really feel for his wife. UGH.
2. When are all these peeps going to learn that the internet is vast and wide and things will catch up to them? Parents...this is another teachable moment!
3. Douchiness crosses all political and socioeconomic lines.

NYC voters OK with Weiner.

(CNN) - A little more than half of New York City residents want embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner to remain in Congress, according to a poll taken hours after the New York Democrat admitted he engaged in inappropriate online activity with women outside his marriage.
The NY1-Marist Poll released Tuesday indicated that 51 percent of those surveyed believed Weiner should not resign, 30 percent thought he should step down and 18 percent were unsure.

However, they were less likely to support him for NYC mayor in 2013, a position he was rumored to want. Fifty-six percent said Weiner should stay out of the race, 25 percent wanted to see him campaign and 19 percent were unsure.
Weiner remains adamant he will stay in Congress, representing the 9th district that includes parts of Queens and the Bronx, which are NYC boroughs, despite increasing requests for him to step down. House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi called for an ethics investigation to determine if he violated the Rules of the House.
The poll surveyed 500 New York City adults on June 6th by telephone with a sampling error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

While I do not believe Thomas committed such acts, to answer your question workplace harassment is far creepier than anything consensual.
I for one do not care what Weiner or Lee or any of the rest do with their personal lives. My only concern is the blackmail threat that a public figure engaged in such behavior faces and that threat would be much less if the media would get out of people's private affairs. But under the current state of politics if Lee had to go, Weiner has to go.

I'm willing to bet that if he is dumb/horny enough to send tweets of his stuff, he is dumb/horny enough to chase skirts in the office. I guess the ethics investigation will look into this.

I'm looking forward to regular press reports on the scandal as the ethics comission digs into it. Hopfully we'll get a string of news stories every few weeks straight through to Nov. 2012.

This post makes no sense, if you believe in guilt by association then no one will recieve any votes.

Right. I think there's a better chance of pweeting becoming a social norm.

Some psychiatrist on CNN said that it wasn't Weiner's fault, She said that clearly he has a high testosterone level (emphemism for horny) because of his receding hairline and his strong jaw and that this caused his behavior. Bullsh**.
