:clap_1: Seattle seems like the place to be! We will spend two nights there before flying to Anchorage to begin our cruise! We went to Vancouver after my guys skiied in Whistler one SB. It is indeed a very cool place!!!
You know, Seattle is one of those places I thought could no way be as cool as everyone says it is--has to be hype, right? Well, then I went...it's all true. I loved it there, was ready to pack up and move.
The End
Actually, there's a P.S.! We have friends there who are both former drivers for Fed Ex and UPS, and they knew everyone's addresses! So, we went on a driving tour and saw Dave Matthews' house, Kurt Cobain's place, Ed Viesturs (famous mountain climber) and Eddie Vedder's house. When we went by the Vedders', our friend yelled--"Check it out! (Chris) Cornell's over at Vedder's!" (They knew Cornell's car from delivering stuff to his house.) Too cool.

I would like to go somewhere cool(er) in July or August in North America in or near a major city - any suggestions?

Kurt, I suggest that you drive the Maine coast, starting in Portland and ending in Bar Harbor. It is absolutely beautiful in July. The native Mainers think that it is too hot (they have about 4 days when it reaches into the 90's) but I always thought that it was great. The towns that you will pass through are charming and you can't beat the lobster rolls sold along the way!!! I find it to be a very magical place.

Our window of opportunity is very limited this summer. We're going to Elbow Cay in the Abaco's Islands, Bahamas, June 10 - June 17th (we'll have to talk and share vacation stories, Inletbchdweller!) The 3 of us have never been anywhere so remote and are really looking forward to some beautiful solitude. Then hopefully toward the end of August for a few days, we can get down to Sowal right before school starts. The rest of our summer will be filled with band camps, summer school, etc. I'll be doing lots of driving & dropping off.
Have you been to the Abacos before??? They are great!!!

June- Grayton

After that it is nothing but North Carolina-

July 1-- drop Will at camp in Tuxedo, stay on in Cashiers, maybe Asheville and Biltmore through the holiday weekend

End of July- go visit my baby at camp for 1 hour (but go to NC for a few days to do it:D )

2nd week August-back to NC to pick up Will and his totally stinky smelly 6 weeks worth of laundry

I'm hoping to get to Indy before our beach trip to stock up on vacation goodies at Mermaid's Trader Joe's, and we all want to go to St. Louis for the Dale Chihuly glass exhibit at the park and hang with the Peas!

My summer consists of lots of work and a couple of trips to NC. Since everyone is grown with different schedules, we are trying to find somewhere on the Atlantic coast to go for a few days...just saying those words depresses me. I am definitely a Gulf girl, but will sacrifice for family time. The end of August is MY great trip to SoWal. :D Long time away, but worth the wait.
