What celebrities have you met?

Thought I'd start a thread about celebrities people have met. I had the pleasure of meeting Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders and Jimi Jamison of Survivor also. This was at a Fourth of July celebration down on the river many years ago. Even got sung to by Mark Lindsay. Needless to say I was in Heaven.

I met Karen and Richard Carpenter long ago at a Holiday Inn in LaCrosse Wisconsin. We were playing the lounge and the Carpenters were staying at the HI after having played a concert that day. The management had cleared out the dining room and replaced all the small tables with one giant banquet table at which Karen sat like a queen at the head of the table with Richard sitting next to her followed by her whole entourage. Later they came into the lounge for drinks and they sat at our table along with Skiles and Henderson(comedy team), her hairdresser(who later married Richard Carpenter), the pilot, etc. She was very quiet but did get up to dance with some dude. When Richard left he thanked the band for playing "Goodbye to Love."

The only other celebrity I ever met was Rick Dees in Memphis when he came into a place I worked to buy some vent pipe for a geodesic dome house he was having built in N. Mississippi.

I am sure I have met a few, but I cannot remember celebrities' names. Pop-culture, other than American Idol, doesn't excite me.

What place do you work at Kimmifunn? Very likely to meet those people being as you are in New York City? But, as much as I enjoy watching American Idol, I cannot look at them as celebrities as you would look at Johnny Carson, Carpenters, Jimmy Dean, Don Henley, Morgan Freeman, etc. These are way above any American Idol as to talent and being considered a celebrity. No comparison!

I used to work at a PR agency...fashion, lifestyle, beauty and we did a lot of celebrity events. Now I'm with Macy's. We do tons of in-store events so I meet a lot of them there. I by no means am friends with any of them, but have come in contact and worked with them. we actually have Paris coming in on Friday. :roll:

Loretta Lynn was in our Wamart once right before Christmas. She was very gracious and signed autographs for the few nervy enough to ask.

My cousin was in an elevator with Robert Duvall in Memphis and she said "You're Robert Duvall, aren't you?" He just grinned and said "yep".
She was too overwhelmed to say anything else.

Isn't Loretta Lynn from McMinnville, or close to there? I can see her signing autographs and not being snooty about it. I don't get out much here to meet any celebs that might be around. Well, at least Robert Duvall did speak to your cousin. A grin and a yep is better than the silent treatment. Was it at the Peabody Hotel?
