I think most people end up where they are for the same reason I did. I started off in an industry because I needed a job at a young age, realized I was good at what I did, and then just stayed because it payed the bills and I kept moving up. Now, about to hit 40 this year, I am asking myself this same question. I have gone back and forth in my career with trying to find satisfaction in it, and just getting the job done while trying not to take it home with me. Obviously they both have their downfalls. Since we have moved to SoWal, I am in that same "reinvent" mindset. Unfortunately, things I think I would love to do just don't seem to pay the bills. Things that pay the bills (based on my qualifications) are no longer things I get enjoyment out of. For now my opinion is this: I have moved here to minimize my life and slow things down. This is the life my wife and I want for our daughter too. If I'm able to make the most out of the time I am not working by enjoying this beautiful area, then it matters a lot less what I'm doing for work. To answer the original question however, I would love get back into the Fair Trade industry. We used to own a company but let it go for a few reasons, one of which was to move here. It's where my passion is so maybe some day I will have the opportunity to open a store here. Until then, back to looking for a job here that just pays the bills. That in itself has been a challenge.
