Where do you get "high quality" jersey sheets? I've only seen them at Linens'n Things and BBB, and I have bought them for MS.

The best sheets (for those of who endure the long cold winters) are the flannel sheets from Garnet Hill. Whoa momma.
Oooh, I love Garnet Hill. But I can't sleep on flannel sheets; they give me hot flashes!

BTW just so someone doesn't slam me for not leaving them out for renters, the rental companies I've talked to require their own sheets - it's just too complicated for them to keep track of each owner's personal sheets, especially in the summer when they have so many check-ins to deal with on the weekends.

Our rental company (Royal Beach Resorts) finally figured out that was the way to go as well. Starting this year owners are paying a lump sum and Royal is supplying linens, towels, etc. It'll be nice to not have to worry about the maid losing a pillowcase, etc. and then mix-matching the bedding with whatever she has available..ugh!

Never thought I would see a thread (pun intended  ) like this on the beach message board. In the old days, you could read a newspaper through the sheets one found in most beach houses. Heck, you were lucky if you didn't get a souvenir case of bed crabs from them, too!

We tried the tee-shirt sheets and didn't like them---too stretchy and did not last long with multiple washings. They start looking this awful shade of gray. Satin sheets are too annoying because we keep slipping off the bed. (On the other hand, a satin pillowcase can stave off a bad hair day.) I confess to not fully appreciating the allure of extremely high count sheets as compared to a good quality pair of cotton sheets. And I have an aversion to colored sheets; only whites for us. Our favorites have come from a bed and bath catalog that is now owned by Williams & Sonoma Home. Now don't think I'm uppity, but the secret to great sheets is how they are laundered. There is something to be said for a well-ironed set of cotton sheets that have been spritzed with lavender-scented water after the bed is made. When I was working in Atlanta, I often couldn't afford groceries but had my sheets done once a month at a Chinese laundry next to my office at Colony Square. That was one of the greatest luxuries of this lifetime. I can still feel those sheets on day one after retrieving them from the Chun Lee Laundry.

Best sheets ever encountered were the lightly starched and ironed white linen sheets, lightly spritzed with lavender water, on the beds at a small hotel in Paris, especially if you get a room overlooking the chesnut tree grove in their garden. Ohhhh! I am warming to this thread.

Donna, I know your eyes would glaze over with happiness if you saw the Irish linen sheets that I inherited from a friend of my mother! I don't use them too often because I have more than enough ironing to do without having to iron the sheets as well, but man oh man are they ever worth ironing...it's a real treat to sleep on them. I'm addicted to French eau de linge! I spritz our pillows all the time. The lavender makes you sleep better; did you know?

Sounds heavenly Donna. Downey has a new fabric softner scented w/ lavendar. My sister made me laugh the other day when I walked into her laundry room and she grabbed a bottle and hugged it. I'm buying some on my next trip to the grocery.

I use the dryer sheets with the lavender...it is such a welcome relief from that stinky stuff! I use to covet the Arm & Hammer brand of dryer sheets, but can't find them anymore. The lavender is simply smellrific!!

How much does it cost to have your sheets washed and pressed? I would imagine doing it once a week (and having two sets in rotation) could be quite $$$. Although, don't most of you spend 1/3 of your lives in bed?? HA! Maybe that would help me sleep better???
