Don't leave us hanging. What was the critical info your wife remembered, her address?
I must admit, this played out rather amazingly, complete with the anonymous "Deep Throat" message on our answering machine. I met Deep Throat at a discreet location, and he gave me the means to enter the facilities where the car was parked. When I got there the back license plate had been removed. However, in doing so, it revealed the VIN number. I turned on my camera to take pictures and video and lo and behold- I forgot I had removed the card from the digital camera.
Had to drive back to Deep Throat, explain I was an idiot, drove to Wal-Mart to get a new card, went back to the location of the car, and got the pics and video. Met back up with Deep Throat, made his day, and thanked him profusely for helping us. Still don't know who he is.
I hesitate to say too much because the suspect is conveniently out of town, and no one has been charged yet.
The critical piece of information- Even though this happened during a downpour when the traffic was really heavy, and even though my wife barely saw the lady before my wife was clobbered and pushed across one and a half lanes of traffic and left to sit dangling on 98 with a disabled car she could not get out of- My wife remembered that she thought the woman was possibly perpendicular in the median of 98. Meaning that the lady was not necessarily just trying to merge into the traffic but was trying to cross it.
And if she was trying to go all the way across it meant she was going to a gated community of 5 condo buildings. It didn't mean she lived there. And we weren't sure if my wife remembered the accident correctly since it happened with no warning. But apparently my wife was right.
After the accident the lady did stop. She walked up to my wife's passenger window. My wife said she had hurt her head. The lady, who was obviously drunk, told her she didn't appear to be that badly injured and the lady became belligerent when my wife said she was going to call the police.
At that point the lady went back to her car, and while my wife was calling 911, the lady zoomed around my wife and headed east on 98.
