I disagree - we have standards/rules for a reason and we have people who are supposed to be a check for those standards/rules.

And if the restaurant is not following these rules, their customers need to know so they can make choices based on it. I'll give my favored chef leeway, but I still expect minimum standards to be maintained.

Some of the stuff being leaked was not redacted well at all and that poor judgment is going to have some negative repercussions (one story already caused a bank run) - but some of it I think NEEDED to be made public.

Nothing disinfects like sunshine.
The standards and rules should apply to a media outlet like Wikileaks. Apparently, they have none to abide by. They do not even go in the kitchen. They sit and wait for a cochroach to appear, and they always do. True journalism is going in the kitchen and a story coming out of it that we learn something from, It may hurt one chef or not, but it doesn't expose classified info if permission was given to go in the kitchen.

Now I am hungry.

Mango: Wikileaks doesn't profess to be a news outlet. There really are no rules on the internet, nor any good ways to enforce them. The hope is people will be reasonable and responsible with this tremendous media. The fact is, they are just as irresponsible as they have always been. It just goes viral quicker.

I am not saying I think the whole Wiki thing is RIGHT, just that I am really pissed off by what this info reveals.

Our elected officials are blatantly lying to us.

I don't like that - they are allowed to bend and stretch the truth, but not lie.

How very odd... you mean you can call yourself a news outlet just by calling yourself a news outlet...somebody call Fox, quick!

How so? I haven't read anything like that.

The big issue is that someone can so easily steal 250,000 classified files and broadcast them to the world.

Yes lets worry more about the guy who published it than the folks who dropped the ball on protecting it.

yes, folks, just think about it for a minute: a 23 y/o corporal in the Army is apparently the one who is responsible for this? !?

If one 23 y/o corporal can cause this much "damage"...then, we really have a problem.
