Digital Graffiti at Alys Beach June 5-7, 2014
May 27, 2014 by SoWal Staff
Art, architecture and technology converges and merges when more than two dozen dynamic digital works by artists from all corners of the globe set Alys Beach aglow in early June. Creative and mesmerizing art covers the walls, courtyards and pedestrian pathways throughout the town every June.
That's just the beginning of the excitement for Digital Graffiti 2014. This year’s seventh edition of the world’s first art projection festival also will feature an exclusive behind-the-scenes, sneak-peek tour; an animated performance-arts act; live interactive digital art; a haute magazine fashion photo shoot session; VJ and DJ stylings; and live social media feeds to keep festival goers connected to the must-do art festival on Scenic 30A, along with several other surprises too. SoWal.com is proud to be a sponsor again this year for the seventh year in a row.
Curator’s Tour Brett Phares, who has curated Digital Graffiti since its inception in 2008, is a visual artist working in computer visualization and installation. His tour is designed to give guests a sneak peek at some of the exciting new artwork for 2014. It is an exclusive opportunity to meet and talk one-on-one with some of the talented artists whose work has made Digital Graffiti one of the most vibrant and compelling projection art festivals in the world.
Performance Art Debut The world debut of “Magical Anxiety” a new piece created and performed for the first time in Lake Marylin by Atlanta parade and lantern artist Chantelle Rytter. Guests will get their fill of “drama” as 20-foot illuminated albino alligator conjures a little chaos.
Live, Interactive Human Art Shantell Martin, an internationally acclaimed visual artist known for her signature black ink drawings on pretty much anything… including people, returns from New York by popular demand. She will layer some of her old digital art with brand new works in real time, all while inviting festival attendees to star in her live art show.
Local Flavor Head “Inside the EC Scene” to a welcome lounge sponsored by the Emerald Coast’s EC Magazine. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday guests can meet up with your friends, pose for a digital portrait on a haute magazine photo shoot set, enjoy a signature cocktail, delight in new designer fashions fresh from the Alys Shoppe, groove to DJ tunes, sign up for exclusive insider deals and much more.
VJ Moves and DJ Grooves On Saturday night enjoy animated VJ stylings by artist Amber Bushnell of Montana all around the Caliza Pool in collaboration with South Florida’s DJ Nick James, who says we can expect the groove to sounds with a “Miami House music vibe.”
