December 14, 2017 by SoWal Staff

A time-honored wonderful holiday tradition in South Walton!

Enjoy the walk through the luminaries, to the Historic Wesley House at Eden Gardens State Park. Take a free tour of the house and admire the beautifully decorated rooms, each decorated in different themes by local businesses and organizations. After the tour is complete, guests can vote on their favorite room and enjoy refreshments in the pavilion provided by the Friends of Eden.

The Friends of Eden Gardens State Park was founded as a volunteer organization to assist the state park staff to repair, maintain and enhance the park.  Please consider making a donation to the Friends of Eden Gardens State Park at the event or anytime of the year!

The mission the The Friends of Eden Gardens State Park is to maintain and preserve the grounds and house of the park for the enjoyment of all area residents and visitors. Eden Gardens State Park and all of its physical assets are historically significant, having played an important role in the commercial and residential development of the Florida panhandle, thus it is imperative that they be protected and maintained in a manner which is conducive to perpetual benefit for all.

The focal point of the park is the Wesley house, a beautifully renovated, two-story house with elegant white columns and wraparound porch complete with rocking chairs. Surrounded by moss-draped live oaks and ornamental gardens, the Wesley house inspires visions of hoop skirts and landed gentry. It's a favorite place for weddings and other events, and includes a covered stage for performances, a large screened pavilion, and bricked areas under the oaks for giant event tents.
