Eden Gardens State Park has "Prettiest Porch of the South"
June 2, 2014 by SoWal Staff
Any SoWal insider will tell you that Eden Gardens State Park is a must see when you're visiting the Beaches of South Walton. It's one of the prettiest places in the country and if you catch it when it's blooming it glows so it's almost surreal. But any time of the year the grounds are a great place to get away from it all and relax - take a load off and rock on the porch.
The Friends of Eden are celebrating as the park has won a recent Southern Living Magazine reader poll asr the "Prettiest Porch of the South". Of the ten pretty porches of the South, Eden was the only one nominated from the state of Florida and won by more than 100 votes over the closest competitor. Thank you to all who voted and the support of the community - now everyone knows the "Prettiest Porch of the South" is right here in Northwest Florida!
The focal point of the park is the Wesley house, a beautifully renovated, two-story house with elegant white columns and wraparound porch complete with rocking chairs. Surrounded by moss-draped live oaks and ornamental gardens, the Wesley house inspires visions of hoop skirts and landed gentry. It's a favorite place for weddings and other events, and includes a covered stage for performances, a large screened pavilion, and bricked areas under the oaks for giant event tents.
Pack a picnic and visit Eden Gardens State Park!
