Emerald Coast Theatre Company Presents All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 Dec 6-22

December 10, 2024 by SoWal Staff

Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) is proud to present  All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 December 6 - 22, 2024.

The Western Front: Christmas 1914. Out of the violence of World War I, a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace. All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 tells the true story of the first Christmas Eve of World War I, when soldiers across the Western Front laid down their weapons to celebrate Christmas together. Based on the first hand accounts of soldiers who lived it, this beautifully staged play with music brings these stories to life with traditional carols and patriotic songs, sung a cappella by a cast of 12, celebrating the unique way that the holiday season can bring us all together.

Nathanael Fisher, co-founder and producing artistic director of ECTC says, “We are excited to bring this famous moment in history to stage at ECTC. The poignant events and songs sung a cappella are sure to melt the heart and serve as a reminder of the potential for peace even in the darkest of circumstances."
