Fisher House Wins Festival of Trees at Grand Boulevard in Sandestin

Fisher House on the Emerald Coast won its second consecutive “Best of Show” award at the 2012 Festival of Trees in Grand Boulevard. The award came with a $2000 check. The theme for the tree is Helping Heroes Heal. The Fisher House team was led by the organization’s executive director, Kim Henderson.
 
Second place, also for the second year in a row, was Shelter House, with an elaborate display about their mission to stop domestic abuse and help survivors. The second place award came with a $1,000 check. Michelle Sperzel is executive director of Shelter House and she led the decorating committee for their tree.
 
The public can still vote for the People's Choice Award winner every day at the kiosk at Grand Boulevard through Dec. 15 at which time the winner, who will receive $2000, will be announced by Santa Claus at 2pm in Grand Park.
 
Festival of Trees is a decorating contest held annually at Grand Park in Grand Boulevard showcasing uniquely decorated Christmas trees from area non-profit organizations. The event is free and open to the public.
 
This year’s participating organizations are: American Cancer Society, Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center, Seaside Neighborhood School, Children’s Volunteer Health Network, South Walton Montessori Academy, Shelter House, Children in Crisis, Junior League of the Emerald Coast, Okaloosa AIDS Support and Information Services, Alaqua Animal Refuge, Hope Medical Center and Guardian Ad Litem.
 
Also, FREE photos with Santa Claus begin Saturday, Nov. 24 at 2pm in Grand Park and will occur every Saturday until Christmas.
