Each Fall, Fore Her hosts their signature event, the Fore Her Golf Outing.
This year marks the 11th annual Fore Her Golf Outing and is presented by Emerald Coast Hospice Care. The day of golf is accompanied by a silent auction, prizes, food & drinks, the infamous “Dress Like A Girl” Hole sponsored by Specialty Roofer, with music and a fun time at the 19th Hole After Party.
The local nonprofit invites golfers and philanthropists alike to join them on Friday, October 20th at The Links Golf Club at Sandestin for this year’s fundraiser. Check-in and Registration will begin at 8:30 am with Tee Off at 9:30 am.
Limited spots are still available for the tournament. “Early BIRDIE” pricing of $175 per golfer and $700 for a team of four ends September 30th. On October 1st, the rates increase to $200 per golfer and $800 for a team of four.
Golfers will enjoy breakfast from Chick-fil-A and Taco Bout a Party with the Bloody Mary Bar provided by Sunset Bay Cafe and sponsored by Pizza by the Sea. They will also enjoy lunch on the turn by Centennial Bank. Participants will have the opportunity to win a four passenger golf cart from the Hole in One sponsor, Liberty Cart Company, valued at $14,000.
The 19th Hole After Party will feature lunch catered and sponsored by Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q, drinks and bar sponsored by Builders FirstSource, sweet treats by Sweet Henrietta’s, live music by Rob Romans, silent auction, and more!
Last year, Fore Her raised over $30,000 to help local breast cancer patients in need at the 10th Annual event. With your help, they look forward to exceeding that number this year.
“So far this year, we have paid out over $37,000 in living expenses and medical expenses for breast cancer patients in financial need while undergoing treatment, along with over $4,000 in mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and biopsies for patients who are uninsured or underinsured,” says Amy Walsh, Founder of Fore Her. “The support of our community makes a life-changing impact on the families we help.”
Breast cancer accounts for about 30% of all new cancer cases in women each year in the United States. Funds raised at the Fore Her Golf Outing are used to financially assist local individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and undergoing treatment. Financial relief support includes mortgage or rent payments and utilities, coverage of medical expenses, or helping with auto repairs so patients can get to treatments.
“When you're told you have breast cancer your whole world changes and so many emotions run through your head and then everything starts happening so fast,” says Angela, a Fore Her recipient. “Without Fore Her, I wouldn’t have been able to keep my vehicle which is my livelihood. They helped me with my car and insurance payments. They were so kind and sweet to me and helped me when I had no one to turn to. I am very thankful and we are so blessed to have this organization in our community helping women with breast cancer.”
Additional sponsors include Emerald Bay Plumbing, Terri’s Interiors, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, Renasant Bank, and Emerald Coast Title Services, Cook Family Dentistry, Destin Wigs, ADT Solar, Ferguson, Bob and Barb Carver, Jennifer Crawford - Own at The Beach Team, First National Bank, Brookdale Senior Living Destin, South Walton Plastic Surgery, James “Tim” T. Kersanac - New York Life, Ralph Hansen, Acme Oyster House, Boo Media and Fresh Prints.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and if you can't sponsor or golf, please consider volunteering. Reach out to Amy Walsh at amy@foreher.org to find out more.
Founded by Amy Walsh after her mother and aunt lost their battle with breast cancer, Fore Her was initially conceived as an annual golf benefit to assist local women battling breast cancer with the financial burden of the disease, but as the need grew, the nonprofit expanded to host three annual events to raise funds to continue to support those affected in Northwest Florida. Funds raised are used to provide temporary assistance with bills such as mortgage or rent payments, utilities or helping pay for auto repairs so patients can get to treatments. Fore Her offers resources, hope, compassion and education for all who are affected by breast cancer.
