Smileology Hosting a Free Day of Dentistry Mar 25

February 25, 2016 by SoWal Staff

Local dentists Dr. Olivier Broutin, Dr. Amber Wiebe, and Dr. Lauren Crawford are out to change lives by offering free smiles to anyone who needs dental work, as they host Dentistry from the Heart again this year. The Smileology dental office in Miramar Beach will provide free services for patients in need of dental care on Friday, March 25.

Smileology and their team of dentists, sponsors and volunteers have helped people in need of dental work over the past few years by treating patients in need of fillings, extractions and cleanings. With two locations, this year’s event promises to be the largest yet.

“After seeing the amazing success we had from our first Dentistry from the Heart event in Niceville we knew we had to bring this opportunity to more people. This year we hope to surpass what we did last year, and continue to grow over the years,” said Dr. Wiebe.

Dentistry from the Heart (DFTH) is a national non-profit organization with a simple mission – making people smile. Founded in 2001 by a dentist in New Port Richey, Florida, DFTH was created to aid those in need, including the growing population of under-insured Americans. Over 100 million Americans lack dental insurance, and over 29 percent of adults have untreated cavities. Without events like DFTH, dental care simply isn’t an option for many of the uninsured. To date, DFTH has helped over 5,000 patients and provided over $1 million in dental care.

“Now more than ever, I know there’s people out there that need our services, but have no means to afford them – whether they’re out of a job, or just don’t have dental insurance. This Dentistry from the Heart event is my way of giving back to the community, and being there for the people who are in need of dental work,” said Dr. Broutin.

The event will take place on March 25 at Smileology in Miramar Beach (12273 Hwy 98 Ste. 117). Starting at 7 a.m.  Dr. Broutin, Dr. Wiebe, Dr. Crawford and their volunteers will treat the first 25 patients, or however many they can service by 4 p.m.  For more information, visit smileology.com or the organization’s national website at dentistryfromtheheart.org.

Dentistry from the Heart is a registered non-profit organization that offers free dental work for people who need it. Dr. Vincent Monticciolo founded the organization as a means to give back to the community and address the growing number of people without dental insurance.  In the past seven years, Dentistry from the Heart events have contributed over $1 million in free dentistry and helped over 5,000 patients across the country.
