The Town of Gulf Place Welcomes New Merchants

December 11, 2014 by SoWal Staff

South Walton's town of Gulf Place is bustling this year with events, live music concerts, art classes, farmers markets, wine walk abouts, new shops, and with a great beach town vibe! The latest town news is the addition of four great new businesses: The Perfect Pig, Preacher's Kitchen, Islanders Coastal Outfitters, and The 30A Store.

Local favorite restaurant, The Perfect Pig, is coming to Gulf Place. Like its Seagrove Beach predecessor, the sister location will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Signature menu items include brown sugar bacon, house-made chicken tortilla soup and a crackling pork paninis. The restaurant will also offer a number of local brews and premium wines to compliment the menu. Hours are seasonal, with breakfast beginning at 8 am - until. Opening just after Christmas.

Also joining The Perfect Pig family will be Vickie and Jeff Miller’s newest restaurant venture, Preacher’s Kitchen. Just two doors down from The Perfect Pig’s Gulf Place location, Preacher’s Kitchen will be a counter-style eatery serving build-your-own gourmet burgers, sandwiches and salads with a number of sauces, toppings, chutneys, and cheeses to add to your meal. In addition, the restaurant will serve Parmesan truffle fries, homemade shakes, desserts and an extensive wine and beer menu. Opening very soon!

Islanders Coastal Outfitters, formerly located in Grayton Beach, has been serving the Gulf Coast since 1980 with 'Island-style Aloha Y'all' service. "Since we opened in 1980, we have always tried to serve our locals in addition to the visitors. We select our merchandise so as to be more affordable than some retailers in the area," said founder John Hambleton. Today, Islanders carries brands like Oakley and Ray-Ban sunglasses, surf brands like Hurley and Billabong and sandal brands like Olukai and Reef. Islanders is open for business!

The new 30A Store has joined forces with Sunrise Coffee Company. Come in for delicious food by Sunrise Coffee Company, fresh 30A Coffee, cold 30A Beach Blonde beer, and a large selection of official 30A Gear.

Gulf Place is a vibrant neighborhood community nestled on Highway 30A in South Walton County. Splashing fountains, park benches, tree-lined streets, footpaths, an amphitheater and parks compliment the town center’s location directly across from the Gulf of Mexico. And from these stunning accommodations, you’re just a short stroll away from community pools, golf, shops and eateries.

Gulf Place visitors can easily experience the the 26-mile stretch of the Scenic Highway 30-A area and its eclectic shops and artist colonies. Enjoy breathtaking views and sunsets over the emerald colored waters of the Gulf of Mexico while sinking your toes into the sugar-white sands. Nearby nature preserves offer hiking, biking and wildlife watching, while the Gulf and surrounding bays provide an open invitation for deep-sea fishing and watersports such as parasailing, snorkeling and kayaking.
